Green & Gold Gala

GREEN & GOLD GALA 2022

The Green & Gold Gala (Denim and Diamonds was this year’s theme), made its return on March 4, 2022. For the first time, we honored individuals who not only support Catholic education but continue to impact MCC. This year, we honored Dr. Liz White ’97, Dr. Michael J. McLaughlin ’76 and Mrs. Donna McLaughlin. After many years, the Gala moved off MCC’s campus to Up the Creek Farm. The venue was beautiful, the food delicious and a great time was had by all.

Dr. Michael McLaughlin ’76 is a General Surgery Specialist with over 37 years of experience, he currently serves as the vice president of medical affairs and surgical services at Health First Medical Centers. Over the years, Dr. McLaughlin has held multiple leadership roles at MCC including school board member, founding member of the Champions Club, and chairperson of several fundraising committees.

Donna McLaughlin is a practicing physical therapist and has served Brevard County Catholic schools in various roles, including athletic director and physical education teacher at Our Saviour. Donna spearheaded the inaugural Champions Club 5K to honor former MCC parent Jeff Tysenn, who battled ALS. The 5K tradition continued for eight years with many runners crossing the Jeff Tysenn Finish Line.

Both Michael and Donna have also served as past gala chairpersons. They are the proud parents of four very accomplished Catholic school graduates, each of whom graduated from Our Saviour and MCC (Danielle ’06, MJ ’08, Nicole ’10 and Mariel ’12).

Michael and Donna are blessed to have welcomed the next generation of Hustlers with the addition of their grandchildren James Cobb, Charlotte Cobb and Oliver Knights. Liz Everett White ‘97 is married to her high school sweetheart, Chris White ’97. Liz graduated from the University of Florida in 2000 with a Bachelor of Arts in Communication Sciences and Disorders. She then went onto the University of Louisville for her Doctor of audiology degree in 2005. In the past 17 years, she has worked in many facets of audiology including the cochlear implant industry, education, clinical, government, and now, private practice.

She is involved in her community as the vice president of the Ascension Catholic School Board as well as volunteering with many activities around Brevard County and is the race director for the Ascension Catholic School Eagle Pride 5K. In addition, she is the vice president of membership for the Florida Academy of Audiology and the treasurer for the American Academy of Audiology Foundation.

Liz and Chris have three beautiful children—Brooke, Amelia, and Dalton. They attend Ascension Catholic School. Their oldest will be following in her parents’ footsteps this fall and is a member of the MCC Class of 2026.
