Class of 2025, I am a third-year bachelor’s degree student majoring in Interior Design and minoring in Business Management & Entrepreneurship at Savannah College of Art & Design. Originally from Ledyard, Connecticut, I have emobodied a passion for interior design for as long as I can remember, drawing inspiration from my mother, who teaches interior design at my local high school. Sing then, I have absorbed every drop of design knowledge possible and am always considering new and innovative aspects of interior design. SCAD’s coursework and extensive use of design software have provided me ample opportunities to grow my craft and develop as an interior designer.

The Virginia Beach Moxy Hotel project is meant to design a space that is inviting for all. This design will consider people with varying physical abilities and challenges. The goal is to make our designs as inclusive as possible in order to be inviting to the broadest spectrum of any community. The design will encapsulate the surrounding areas of Virginia Beach. The design of the Moxy Hotel will include a Lobby & Bar, Retail Space, Game Area, and ADA Guest Suite.

The Upscale Wits of the Moxy Hotel are inspired by the Virginia Beach ocean and the youthful personalities that adventure there. The space reflects the bubbliness of its visitors but with a sophisticated touch. The design allows people to flow through the space and experience all of the different textures and burstful colors that it embraces. The textures are inspired by driftwood from the beach and the color palette from the ocean. The Upscale Wits is a place where younger and more spirited ones can relax and enjoy the classy offerings of the beach side Moxy Hotel.

creating a space that flows through the entry & to every corner of the hotel was vital. the curvilenear lines, inspired by the beach, travel throughout and guide the user.

continuing along with the curves, the ada guest room provides a change in flooring that seamlessly connects making it accessible for all. the fun but neutral colors invite the guests to have a relaxing stay.

Check-In / Bar

the entrance of the moxy grabs guests attention with the wooden ceiling structure that guides people throughout. the lower height at the check in and bar makes it accessible for all. the gold check-in signs guides the user to the bar upon entry.

Lounge

the lounge of the moxy is an inviting space for all to gather with their group, meet new people, and enjoy the views of the ocean. the curvilinear wooden ceiling structure guides users through all corners of the lounge.

Coffee Bar

the coffee bar is desiged to be a space for guests to replenish after a long night or throughout their relaxing beach day. in addition, the bar is open to outside users who are not guests of the moxy. it is an inviting space for all to mingle and munch. keeping in mind the pink moxy logo, the coffee bar was created by using more natural tones of pink and designed around the tiles that you see along the wall. it was also important to incorporate materials like rattan to remind people they are near the ocean. lastly, the color palette is there to reflect the colors you see in coffee beans

ADA Room

the moxy ada guest room is an enlarged and accessible room for all to relax after their adventures in virginia beach. the blues, reds, and greens represent the coastal room mixed with natural elements. the minimalistic space allows for movability and for users to enjoy the view.

The Rose Dhu Creek residential home is designed for and accommodates the tall heights of RuPaul Andre Charles & his husband. The design choices are inspired by RuPauls’ love for vibrant colors and fun patterns. The space will twist this love of his with more neutral and calming design choices to create a space where he and his husband can come home and relax. All design choices made will keep in mind their tall heights.

Rose Dhu Creek Plantation Gated Community

RuPaul and his husband are both people that stand very tall. Literally with their height and figuratively with their big personalities. RuPaul is bold, creative, and a fun person to be around. His home will capture all of his personality traits as well as his love for bright colors but also all fo the different shades of beige. Creating a space that portrays this and is leisurely is a top priority. As well as including design solutions that work well for their tall heights is important. They both need a space they can be and love themselves in adnt that fully expressed who they are as people.

the second floor shows an additional two bedrooms & a bathroom for any guests they would like to have stay at their home. In addition, it includes an office for RuPaul to do his daily meditation and work on his shows.

Living Room

the large living room is perfect for RuPaul to gather with his friends & loved ones. the orange couch adds a pop of color to the room compared to all the other neutral materials.

this custom built in will be an area for Geroges, RuPaul’s husband, to sit down and enjoy a book or continue to work on writing his own.

Kitchen

the large kitchen provides a microwave drawer that is easily accessible. all of the appliances are raised to accommodate the couples heights.

to accommodate the couples tall heights, the countertops are raised andthe upper cabinets go all the way to the ceiling. the large kitchen showcases neutral materials and dark colors with a pop of green & animal print.

Primary Suite

the primary suite accommodates well for both of their tall heights with an especially large bathtub & shower. as well as a bed that fits them perfectly.
