SELFͳGRIPPING CLAMPS The self-gripping clamps can be used to anchor and to string conductors (aluminium, ACSR, copper...) and steel rope.

The body is made of high strength hot forged steel, in order to minimise the ra o between weight and working load.

The galvanisa on treatment on the surface protects from oxida on.

Tesmec clamps can be provided with machined body clamps or with interchangeable jaws, as per the table in the next page.

Special solu ons can be provided on demand.

The most important characteris c of the clamp with interchangeable jaws is the possibility to use the same clamp for working on conductors, ropes or op cal ground wires of different diameters by changing the jaws; this feature makes it possible to reduce the opera ng costs.

New Tesmec clamps can accept a large range of ropes and conductors diameters by using a small number of interchangeable or machined jaws.

SELF-GRIPPING CLAMP - MOT180GC

The recent trend of countries, with the higher rate of energy demand, is to give priority to ultra-high voltage power lines (660-750-800-1000 kV, with future growth to 1100-1200 kV). Therefore conductors have to increase their sec on to transport more power.

Tesmec response is the new clamp MOT180.

The new MOT180 can be used to grip conductors from 32 to 46 mm diameter (indica ve conductor sec on: 620 ÷ 1260 mm2) by using interchangeable jaws. Big conductor diameters need clamp with high strength to resist to heavy working loads.

MOT180 is made of hot forged, heat treated alloy steel with galvaniza on treatment to reach high strength and avoid oxida on.

• Breaking load: 280 kN • Working load: 90 kN * • Mass: 19.5 kg The clamp has 5 different set of jaws in accordance to different range of conductor diameters. These jaws can work with all type of conductor (AAC, ACSR, ACAR, HTLS etc...):

• GTJ335 range 32 ÷ 35 mm Tesmec R&D designed the MOT180 clamp by using the • GTJ338 range 35 ÷ 38 mm most recent FEM analysis (Finite Element Method) and • GTJ341 range 38 ÷ 41 mm dedicated prototypes were made to perform different • GTJ344 range 41 ÷ 44 mm tests: • GTJ346 range 44 ÷ 46 mm • Tests on trac on machine using machined prototype Jaws are made in cast aluminium to increase gripping to define correct working load and breaking load capabili es and avoid conductor surface damages.

• Tests on different conductor type/size to control sliding and damaging • Tests on pre-series clamps to validate final shape
