Matthew “Matt” O’Connor Chief Operating Officer, Broker Associate

Matt lives in Upper Saddle River with his wife Emma and their three boys: Raleigh (11); James (9); and Robert (7). “ I was working as a technology consultant in New Orleans and New York. My mother, Terrie, was one of my clients, and she would fly me up to New Jersey from New Orleans for projects,”explained Matt. “I was excited by the opportunity to take TOCR to the next level, so I decided to join the firm full time in 2003.” Matt earned an electrical engineering degree at Auburn University and worked for a New Orleans based technology company for seven years following graduation. Matt’s background in technology consulting, computer programming, and business management have been a tremendous asset in growing Terrie O’Connor Realtors. “His technology experience, engineering background, and consulting experience have all been a significant force behind the growth and development of our firm,” says Terrie. Matt has been a featured speaker at multiple industry conferences including RIS Media and Inman, and he currently serves as a member of the Real Trends Innovators Group, the LeadingRE Marketing Technology Advisory Council and the New Jersey MLS Board of Directors. When he is not at work, Matt is busy coaching his three active boys in soccer, baseball, and basketball. As a family, they enjoy gymnastics meets, youth sports leagues, and snow skiing. Matt and Emma enjoy game nights with friends and playing bridge. Matt is also an accomplished musician. He plays the saxophone and guitar with his Billy Joel cover band “52nd Street.” They’ll be playing in August at the Terrie O’Connor Realtors Family Picnic in Allendale, as well as during the summer at venues throughout New Jersey. Matt says that working with his family is “immensely gratifying,” and he’s excited for what’s in store for their company in the future.
