Mi alzai presto quella mattina, il sole sonnecchiava ancora a est mentre iniziavo il mio cammino. Lasciavo a valle i pensieri e i malumori che durante la notte mi avevano tenuto sveglio.

Davanti a me, la montagna si elevava solenne e granitica come la forza di volontĂ che mi guidava nel costruire il mio progetto.

Mentre il sole appoggiava il primo raggio sulla terra, giĂ molti passi avevo battuto lungo il sentiero.

I woke up early that morning. When I started my walk, the sun was yet to be seen. I started my climb leaving the dark thoughts that had kept me awake that night behind me. Before me, solemnly stood the hard granite mountain, as hard as the willpower that was guiding me in creating my project.

When a first ray of sun reached the land, I was well on my way.

Il respiro del bosco si faceva fiato in me, mettendo in circolo pensieri nuovi ed emozioni più vive. Alzai gli occhi al cielo che iniziava a colorarsi e rimasi ad ammirare dall’alto il risveglio del mondo specchiarsi sulla parete di pallida dolomite. La roccia, in quella tiepida mattina, pareva brillare della stessa lucentezza del suo creatore.

Passo dopo passo, anche la mia missione si faceva più chiara.

Prendermi cura di questa terra così come mi stavo prendendo cura del mio prodotto, questo dovevo fare.

I breathed the breath of the woods, and new thoughts and vibrant emotions started to flow. I looked up to the sky that was just starting to change colour and I stopped to admire the reflection of the world waking up on the pale dolomite surface.

On that warm morning, the rocks seemed to glow with the same light of their creator.

One step after the other, my mission became clearer to me. I had to take care of this land just as I was taking care of my product.

That was what I had to do.

Compresi allora che non serviva inventare nulla, che l’ispirazione della natura era perfetta come quella luce che svelava il colore rosa della montagna. Nessun materiale avrebbe potuto uguagliare la morbidezza e l’elasticità della lana, la sua capacità termoregolatrice, adatta d’inverno e d’estate, perché creata per proteggere gli animali da ogni condizione avversa.

So I understood that I did not need to invent anything new and that the inspiration nature provided me was perfect, just like that light unveiling the pinkness of the mountains.

No material could ever equal the softness and elasticity of wool and its thermoregulation qualities that make it suitable both in the cold and hot season, because it protects animals in any weather condition.

Nessuna macchina avrebbe potuto mai replicare la cura e la perfezione delle cuciture eseguite a mano, con pazienza, da mani artigiane che nel tempo avevano forgiato il loro sapere.

Nulla poteva essere piĂš confortevole del plantare ergonomico, in microfibra, traspirante e lavabile, che avevo studiato per coccolare il piede e per scaricare il peso delle nostre lunghe giornate regalando a ogni passo un momento di sollievo.

No machine could ever match the care and perfection of handsewn stitches, patiently made by time-honoured knowing hands.

Nothing could be more comfortable than the ergonomic insole in breathable washable microfibre that I had designed to embrace the foot, alleviating the weight of our long days, giving a sense of relief at every step.

Giurai a me stesso che con questo impegno avrei proseguito il mio lavoro, unendomi solo a fornitori con la mia stessa filosofia, ecosostenibile, riducendo ogni minimo impatto sull’ambiente.

I swore to myself that I would continue my work staying true to this commitment, joining forces only with suppliers sharing my same eco-friendly philosophy, reducing our impact on the environment to the minimum.

Il sole stava salendo con me verso la cima della montagna, accompagnando il mio spirito ben oltre la fine di quel cammino.

Mi sedetti per riposare, chiudendo gli occhi un istante, sfilai gli scarponi già stanchi di tanta strada e, aprendo lo sguardo verso quello spettacolo infinito, indossai le mie pantofole e sentii l’abbraccio della natura cullare i miei piedi.

The sun accompanied me up to the top of the mountain, taking my spirit well beyond the end of that walk. I sat down to rest. I closed my eyes for a moment. Then I took off my tired boots and, taking in that infinite wonder around me, I put on my slippers and felt the embrace of nature around my feet.
