ALL IS IN MOTION, IS GROWING, IS YOU BY DANIELLE HATCH
Saturday, May 18 & Sunday, May 19
12 PM & 4 PM
Mercury Fountain Plaza
All Is in Motion, Is Growing, Is You is a site-specific textile installation and accompanying performance by artist Danielle Hatch. Hatch takes inspiration from the founding of the community of Reston, in particular the negotiation between the roles of the individual and the collective in the process of community building. The Reston Town Center site is explored for possibility, transformation, and connection. With colors and shapes informed by native flowering plants of Northern Virginia, the installation and performances navigate and illustrate the tension between beauty and constraint within communal relationships.

ABOUT THE FESTIVAL
Now in its 33rd year, the Tephra ICA Arts Festival, formerly titled the Northern Virginia Fine Arts Festival, offers one-on-one experiences with artists, vibrant public performances, and engaging activities for art enthusiasts of all ages.
Over 200 contemporary artists and artisans travel from across the country to present original handmade artwork to share with Festival audiences. The Tephra ICA Arts Festival is the perfect opportunity to fall in love with an artwork, get to know the artist who made it, and bring a piece home to add to your collection.
The 2024 Festival includes 72 new artists and over 100 returning participants. With work in the 10 different categories, the Festival has something for everyone.

ABOUT TEPHRA ICA
Tephra Institute of Contemporary Art (Tephra ICA) is a 501c3 non-profit, non-collecting institution committed to promoting innovative contemporary art and thinking. The word “tephra”—matter from geothermal eruptions that lands upon, nourishes, and changes the surrounding environment emphasizes the institution’s belief in the combustibility of creativity and the generation of ideas and growth that the arts can provide.
The 2024 Tephra ICA Arts Festival will continue the celebration of the institution’s 50-year history in the community. Founded in 1974 as Greater Reston Arts Center (GRACE) by Reston artists and residents, the institution works with artists, galleries, institutions, universities, thought leaders, and collectors globally. We rely on a variety of funding sources for programming, and the annual Tephra ICA Arts Festival is our largest fundraiser.
