DICKSON COUNTY GOVERNMENT

The Dickson County Courthouse on the Charlotte Square is listed on the National Register of Historic Places, and is the oldest courthouse still in use as a courthouse in Tennessee.

About the Dickson County Commission and mayor » The 12 members of the Dickson County Commission are elected by county residents every four years. » Two commission meetings are held each month: A work session on the first Monday of the month at 7 p.m., and the official monthly meeting on the third Monday of the month at 7 p.m. Both meetings are held on the second floor of the commission chambers in the Courthouse Annex in downtown Charlotte.

Brief county government History On Aug. 4, 1804, less than a year after Dickson County was created, Charlotte was named the county seat. The first group of county organizational leaders, known as the Dickson County Quarterly County, also met in 1804. The commission was reduced from 24 legislators to the current 12-person body in 2002.
