Students can attend the full year or build a program that meets their needs and choose one or two semesters. Torah Explorers incorporates stories, values, and practices rooted in Jewish tradition. Students get to explore their heritage through hands-on art, singing, dancing, yoga, and team-building activities.

Gesher—The Bridge For Students in 3rd Grade
Gesher is a unique program which we developed to ensure a smooth transition for all new and returning third grade students. Gesher classes meet once a week for two hours in a smaller class setting where the teacher/ student ratio is 1–8. Third grade is a very exciting and important year for our Gesher students. The curriculum is challenging and interactive—our goal is to provide our third graders with a solid foundation they can build on. Gesher students learn to read and write Hebrew They learn about Jewish holidays, traditions, and our land of Israel. They also explore the idea that each of has the power to make the world more holy/kadosh. Our Gesher students also learn how to pray! We sing new songs, learn new words of liturgy, reflect on how prayer can bring order, beauty, meaning, and insight into our lives. Music, Jewish cooking, family education programs, class trips, and particiation in tzedakah programs enrich the Gesher curriculum.
Kavod Plus For Students in Grades 4, 5, and 6
WHAT IS THE KAVOD PLUS PROGRAM? This exciting and unique program is designed for families who want to make their children’s education a priority. R Classes meet twice a week: Wednesday and Saturday
SPECIAL FEATURES OF THE KAVOD PLUS PROGRAM INCLUDE: R In-depth exploration of grade-level subjects R Participation in special in-class enrichment projects Kavod Plus students in Grades 4–6 will also be introduced to, and expected to master, additional Hebrew prayers, as well as Torah and Haftarah cantillation. They will be exposed to the modern Hebrew that is spoken today in the State of Israel, and acquire a repertoire of common phrases.
Hineni
A Mitzvah Education Initiative for Students in Grades 4, 5, or 6
WHAT IS THE HINENI PROGRAM? The Hineni Program is a flexible, creative model for our 4th, 5th, and 6th Grade students who are interested in taking an active role in acts of tikkun olam (repairing the world). Students connect to Judaism in a variety of ways; this program is designed to allow participants to create their own meaningful Jewish experiences and memories. The Hineni Program is for students who want both flexible learning options and are excited about engaging in acts of tikkun olam.
CLASS ATTENDANCE Students attend class one day per week. Students are expected to attend at least 75% of all scheduled classes
HEBREW LANGUAGE INSTRUCTION Small groups limited to six students for intimate, individualized attention.
HINENI POINTS Students, with the help of their parents, can design their own unique Jewish learning experience as they explore their areas of interest while earning 30 Hineni Points each year. Hineni Points can be earned by: R Attending services – at least 9 of these points earned by attending three services at Temple Sinai (each service earns 3 points) R Family workshops (6 points) R Trips (starting at 6 points) R Parent participation in an adult education class or lecture (4 points) R Independent study project (starting at 6 points)

Small Group Tutorials Innovative Flexible Learning Models for Students in Grades 4, 5, and 6 WHAT IS THE SMALL GROUP TUTORIAL PROGRAM? The Small Group Tutorial Program is a flexible instructional model offered to our 4th, 5th, and 6th Grade students. The students meet once a week for two hours in a small group. The location, days, and times of the class can be determined by the parents and tutor. In addition to small group tutorials, students are expected to attend one Friday or Saturday service a month, Mitzvah Morning, and some additional Temple Sinai events.
KEY FEATURES OF THE SMALL GROUP TUTORIALS
20 two-hour tutorial sessions R Student can attend tutorials with his or her friends, with a maximum of 4 students in a group R The group can select the day, time, and location to accommodate the group members’ schedules R Location, days, and times are to be determined by the parents and tutor R Tutorials may take place at the Temple or at a student’s home R If the tutorial sessions take place in a student’s home, a parent or an adult who is responsible for the child/ren must be present in the home during the lesson R Parents are responsible to notify the tutor 24 hours in advance if a student will not be able to attend a session R The best way to maximize the effectiveness of the tutorial sessions is for your child to practice regularly between sessions

Our daughter has been a part of the Temple Sinai Tutorial program for two years. She is now busy preparing for her Bat Mitzvah and it is wonderful to see how easily the Hebrew reading comes to her. The flexible schedule of the tutorial option is very helpful and we will be doing the same program with our son next year.
Kadima
An Individualized Program for Children with Learning Differences
Teachers meet with students in individually. The goal of this program is to ensure that Jewish education is available to all of our children. These sessions provide opportunities to practice and review materials for students who need additional support. Students experiencing difficulty with Hebrew reading or who need extra help to meet our congregational Religious School standards are able to improve their skills and confidence in this supportive learning environment.
Religious school is my daughter’s favorite two hours of the week. She loves learning about Judaism!

Mitzvah Makers A Program for 7th Grade Students and their Families
PART I 7th Grade students are engaged in many hands-on learning experiences, participating in programs led by the clergy, educators from the AntiDefamation League, veterans of the Israeli Defense Force, and more.
PART II Mitzvah Makers is the community service component of the B’nei Mitzvah Project. In the fall of 7th Grade, each student joins a long-term community service group. Students continue their volunteer service throughout the 7th Grade school year. Before or after volunteering the students will engage in service learning in order to form deep connections between their volunteer work and Jewish traditions.

Chazak Embracing Children and Families with Special Needs Chazak, which is Hebrew for strong, provides opportunities for children with special needs to strengthen their connection to Judaism through a variety of meaningful experiences. Chazak Bar/Bat Mitzvah Program An Individual Program for Children with Special Needs in Grades 3–7 Every child can become a Bar/Bat Mitzvah at Temple Sinai. We are committed to working with each individual family to create a unique Bar/ Bat Mitzvah ceremony for your child.
