Area golf enthusiasts are gearing up for the 4th annual Temple Chamber Golf Tournament on Friday, August 24th. This year’s tournament will be sponsored by ASCO/CASE and will begin at 11:00 a.m. at Wildflower. At the end of play, there will be live music featuring Brian Gowan, awards, dinner and live and silent auctions. There are still several sponsorship opportunities available, including hole and sign sponsorships. Hole sponsorships are $1,100, and putting green and driving range sponsorships are $100. Not ready to sponsor but want to enjoy an afternoon of golf and fun? If you have a team and are interested in playing, you can register online on the Chamber website or pick up a form at the Chamber office. The cost of a team is $500 for 4 players. Registration forms and payment are due at the Chamber office by Monday, August 20th at 5:00 pm. A portion of the proceeds from this event benefit The

Temple Corporate Challenge is Back! By: Kristi Sykora, Temple Parks and Leisure Services The Temple Corporate Challenge is now accepting company registrations. The Corporate Challenge events begin September 14. Companies must register by August 24 to participate. The Challenge is hosted by the Mayor’s Council on Physical Fitness and will include a variety of events: volleyball, golf, 5K, cycling, basketball, horseshoes, washers, billiards, kickball, disc golf, and softball. “We are excited to offer the Temple Corporate Challenge to provide employees from area businesses the opportunity to participate in a friendly competition. The Challenge is a great way for employers to encourage physical fitness, increase name and brand recognition, build stronger teams within your organization and
have fun,” said Temple Mayor Bill Jones. The Corporate Challenge is a series of events that allows employees from area businesses the opportunity to compete against other companies in friendly competition. It is a great opportunity for coworkers who share a common interest to team up and compete together for both personal achievement and company pride. All local businesses and their employees are encouraged to participate. “The great thing about the games is that businesses of all sizes can compete and enjoy the networking and excitement of the Corporate Challenge,” said Mayor Jones. interested individuals are invited to attend an informational meeting on August 13 at 5:30 p.m. at the Mayborn Convention Center (3303 N. 3rd Street).
