Preface Dear student, Every year TeMa provides a variety of both fun and interesting activities for her members, and this year is certainly no exception. The TeMa Conference and Inhousetour are perfect moments to show yourself to potential employers. The social activities like our annual Christmas Dinner and the Mid-Year Party are ideal opportunities to socialize with other members. These and many other activities would not exist without active members, that is why also this year TeMa is looking for enthusiastic active members! Developing your skills related to cooperation, organizing and planning can only be achieved through practical experience. Becoming a member of a committee offers the opportunity for this. In addition, a committee year offers a lot of fun with your fellow committee members and the other members of the association. Becoming an active member at TeMa also gives you the unique opportunity to get in touch with your fellow students in these unusual corona times. As a sign of appreciation to all the active members, the Board organizes an Active Members Weekend every year and three other activities to thank all active members for their efforts. This flyer provides you with all the information about the committees and becoming an active member. If you still have questions, don’t hesitate to contact us.

Activity Committee The Activity Committee organizes two social activities which are spread over the year. the first activity is the Christmas Dinner and will take place before the Christmas holiday. when this is done the preparations of the Batavierenrace will start. The Batavierenrace is the world’s largest relay race in which TeMa also participates with a team every year. Moreover, the race is completely organized by students. The trip will be organized by the Activity Committee. Because of the enormous size of the event it is very important to prepare the participants and the logistics well. It is the job of the committee to guide this trip so all goes smooth. Do you enjoy variety and want to work on two very different activities? Then you are at the right place in the Activity Committee! The committee consists of at least four members with the functions chairman, secretary, treasurer, acquisition and promotion officer.

Career Committee Like the name suggests, this committee focuses entirely on career activities. From the beginning, the committee will work towards their own highlight: the Inhousetour. The Inhousetour consists of inhousedays at several companies. During an inhouseday companies are visited in order to get to know more about them. Often this will happen through presentations, a guided tour through the company and by making cases. Thanks to this, you and the participants come in close contact with companies that could be your future employers. Besides finding facinating companies, the committee is also responsible for the program of the whole trip, including an overnight stay and transportation. The committee consists of five members with the functions chairman, secretary and treasurer. Two other committee members will fullfill the acquisition and day coordination functions together.

International Committee The yearly International Committee is responsible for organizing two social activities in both November and February. The activities will be internationally oriented. The goal of these activities is to raise integration between international and Dutch students. Here you can think of cultural activities, but the committee has a lot of freedom in organising these activities. Last year, the International Committee organized a Beertasting. In this committee we strive for a nice mix between internationals and Dutch students to come up with the best international activities. Next to organising these activities, you can help us by giving your opinion in the International Pool! Are you enthusiastic and do you love to get in touch with different cultures and would you like to organise activities that bring different cultures together? Then this committee is very suitable for you! The International Committee consists of at least three members with the functions chairman, secretary, treasurer and promotion officer.

Media Team The Media Team provides pictures and videos of the activities of TeMa during the year. Next to this you will have the opportunity to gain new knowledge about professional media software in order to create aftermovies and promotion videos for TeMa activities. The Media Team is responsible for keeping memories alive for TeMa members. Since you are present at most of the activites, you will meet a lot of new people! In this committee, you are free to use your own creativity! The Media Team consists of 2 editors and a photographer, which includes a chairman. You can mix and plan where you want to be working on throughout the year, so there is a lot of flexibility & variety!

Sustainability Event Committee Sustainability is becoming more and more important nowadays. This also applies to our study accociation. That’s why TeMa decided to establish a Sustainability Event Committee who is responsible for organizing the annual Sustainability Event. The goal of this event is to increase awareness among students and to gain knowlegde regarding sustainability by means of company cases, lecture talks, etc. So you will organize an event with the theme sustainability, where you are responsible for the full progam of the day and you will make the day organization as sustainable as possible. As a memeber of the Sustainability Event Comittee you wil be responsible for finding interesting companies, speakers, location and all other practical matters regarding the organization of the event. So are you looking for a formal commitee and do you like to think out of the box then this committee is something for you!

Master Committee The Master Committee consists of both MSc TOM and MSc SCM students who organize two activities for their fellow MSc students. It consists of four members with an equal balance of both Master students. Therefore this committee represents the needs of the MSc students of TeMa by incorporating these needs into master specific activities. The content of these activities is up to you as a member of this commitee. Are you a Master student? And do you want to do something extra next to your study? Then apply for the Master Committee!

Social Committee The Social Committee organises the Monthly Socials of TeMa. For some of these socials, the committee has to make up crazy themes, decorate the bar and provide special deals for drinks. Additionally, two times a year the committee has to think of an extra activity before or during the social, to make it even more fun to join the social. TeMa has a history of great themes, such as ‘Tropical Night’, ‘TeMa Olympics’ and a ‘Mexico Social’. Upcoming socials will be held at Borrelcafé Jut & Jul. Next to the Monthly Socials, the committee is also responsible for organizing two other activities: The Midyear Party and the Dies, which is the yearly anniversary of TeMa. At the Midyear Party, we celebrate the beginning of the new semester, but maybe even more that we made it through the first one. The Social Committee consists of at least 3 members, with the functions chairman, secretary, treasurer and promotion officer.

Introduction Committee The Introduction Committee will be responsible for the introduction activities in the first weeks of the next study year 2021-2022. First of all, the responsibility of the Introduction Committee will be organising three introduction activities for all different target groups of TeMa. The idea of these activities is that students of the different target groups first have a separate program to get to know their fellow students, and after that all the different target groups come together for a nice social for all TeMa members to start the new study year! In addition, this committee is responsible for a Promotion Day at the beginning of the study year. In this way, you try to give the new students the best welcome they could wish for. It is your responsibility to make sure the students are getting to know both each other and the association in a fun and relaxed way. Would you like to help the new students at the university to feel welcome at TeMa? Then apply for the Introduction Committee! The committee consists of at least three members with the functions chairman, secretary, treasurer and day coordinator.

Conference Committee The Conference Committee has the opportunity to organise the yearly Conference of TeMa. It is a task with a lot of responsibility since the Conference is TeMa’s largest event in terms of participants. The Conference includes workshops and masterclasses given by companies. The process of organizing a conference starts with coming up with an interesting theme. After that the committee starts contacting companies in order to ask them if they want to participate in the Conference. When enough companies are contracted, the committee has to select and book a suitable location for the Conference. Last years the Conference took place at an external location. It is a challenge for the new Conference Committee to contract enough partners to make it possible to book an external location again. Organizing the Conference does not only include contracting companies, it also includes arranging a lunch and a social for the participants. The Conference Committee will embody five members with the functions chairman, secretary, treasurer, acquisition officer and day coordinator.

ISP Committee The ISP Committee will be responsible for the organization of the International Study Project 2021 (application period 1) or 2022 (application period 2). The ISP is a trip of multiple days abroad in which participants visit a variety of companies to see how the companies operate. In the end, all the participants need to write a research report. This research report reflects on the theory learned during the study. Ofcourse there is also plenty of room for socializing and relaxing during this week! The ISP is the largest activity TeMa organizes in terms of days and budget size. This makes it a big responsibility! The committee has ten months to prepare this entire week step by step. Choices that will be made are: the location, the companies, the schedule of the week, the theme, etc. The committee faces the challenge to let career, study, and socializing come together in a unique blend! The committee consists of five members with the functions chairman, secretary, treasurer and two acquisition & daycoordinators.

Committee functions Depending on the chosen committee, there are several positions you can apply for which are described below. Check each committee function to see which function suits you best! Chairman The chairman will coordinate and help other functions when needed. In addition, this person will maintain the contact with the Board and will be the ‘face’ of the committee during the year. Secretary The secretary will make notes at the meetings so agreements are written down. Furthermore, you are the person who informs the TeMa members about relevant issues. Additionally, the secretary fullfills the function of promotion officer when this function is not present in the committee. Treasurer The treasurer manages the finances of the committee and processes it into a budget. During the event the treasurer will ensure that the expenses stay within the budget as much as possible. Acquisition Officer The acquisition officer is responsible for making and maintaining the business contacts of the committee. During the activity itself the acquisition officer is also the contact person for these contacts. Promotion Officer The promotion officer will be responsible for the promotional material and possible promotion activities. You will be automatically be part of the Media Team. Day Coordinator An activity can not run smoothly without a proper planning. Application procedure Are you interested in a committee after reading this flyer? Below is explained how you can become an active member of TeMa! If you are a member of TeMa, you can apply for a committee by sending a letter of motivation and your CV to the Internal Relations Officer of the Board during the application period. In this letter you shortly introduce yourself and mention which committee and function you are interested in. You can also mention your possible relevant experience. Don’t you have any relevant experience? This is no problem at all as it is not a requisite. In response to your application mail you will be invited for an interview by the Internal Relations Officer of the Board. In this interview your letter of motivation and CV will be discussed briefly. Also personal and function-specific questions will be asked. There will be a preparation activity for the committees after they have been composed. During this acitvity you will get to know your fellow committee members. Also the expectations of the Board towards the committee will be explained. After the activity your committee is fully operational so you can directly start with hopefully a fantastic year! During the next social you will be presented as committee towards the attendees.

A word of an active member My name is Ruurd Dobber and last year I had the huge honour of being the chairman of the International Committee. After choosing the Technologymanagement track I immediately signed up for TeMa. First I was part of the Internatinoal Study Project Committee who organised a trip to Krakow and a year later I joined the International Committee. In hindsight I regret not applying for a committee as soon as I joined, because it has been two amazing years. Together with three wonderful committee members I organized two International Activities througout the year. If you’re having doubts about doing a committee year, feel free to speak to one of the active members. Without fail, they’ll tell you that they’d become an active member again in a heartbeat. Clearly, becoming active is not only fun and informative but also addicting, no other association is as cosy and fun as TeMa. I hope this booklet includes a committee that speaks to you.
