Student assaulted by man in parking lot 9 Kathi Renaud Swf[Writer
An unidentified Palomar student was physically attacked by another student on March I in Lot 9, according to Campus Patrol. The victim said he was attacked as he got out of his car on the afternoon of March I. He claims that after the initial attack, he kicked the attacker in an attempt to escape. After he fought back, he reported that his attacker jumped into the passenger seat of a black Ford Mustang, which left Lot 9 onto Borden Road. Campus Patrol Officer Donald Torres said
that the victim had sustained a one and a half inch laceration on his arm. The victim was unable to give description of the Black Mustang's driver, but he was able to identify the alleged attacker as an acquaintence. According to Campus Patrol, the victim knew his attacker and their altercation may have been related to a prior conflict. The student believes the attack may have been related to the fact that he had loaned the attacker his car last month. Palomar College will celebrate its 50th Anniversary with a one-day "Golden Jubilee Open House," March 16 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. The Jubilee is designed to be the primary spring celebration event for Palomar's 50th anniversary. The event and campus parking are both free and open to the public. Organizers recommend guests begin their open house tour in the Dome, where they can register, receive campus maps, receive information such as a special North County Times Jubilee insert section and free birthday cake and refreshments. The campus tour will also end at the Dome. "This event will be a celebration to make people feel good about all that's been accomplished over the past 50 years," said Michael Norton, director of public information. For the past year, Norton; Norma Bean, marketing communications manager; and Patricia Barrett, food services manager, have teamed with various other campus officials to
help plan the Jubilee. Norton said technically the celebration has been going on since last September, the start of the college's 50th academic year. The celebration will continue through next fall and conclude with a 50th anniversary closing ceremony in December. "We'll keep celebrating to the end of this ~~~i)l year," Norton said. "It's a I 6month celebration." The headquarters for the Jubilee will be the dome, which wil I house in formation tables and exhibits set up to promote Palomar student groups and administrative departments. Students, faculty and administrators will be on hand to answer questions concerning their respective departments and groups. Other Jubilee events will include special
