Seminars set at Mt. Carmel Seven seminars will be offered at Mt. Carmel High School in Penasquitos November 15. Workshops will be held from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. and cost $10 each unless otherwise noted. "Living With Losses: When and How to Say Goodbye" will focus on losses from death and divorce. A combination of lecture, experiential exercises and group discussions will help students explore their experiences with loss and provide information about when and how to say goodbye. "Creating Your Ideal Job" will introduce students to the Kahn Method and Process. Skills and tools necessary for creating an ideal job include the clearing process, direction plotting, treasure mapping and empowering self. VA gives advice on benefits Mix-ups, delays or non-receipt ofVA benefits can be avoided by following these seven steps: 1. Notify the VAO of any changes in units or in program. 2. Notify the VAO of address changes by calling VA toll free lines (800-5323811). 3. For Vietnam era and Vocational Rehabilitation Vets, notify the VAO of any change in marital or dependency status. Certified documents will need to be submitted to VA

4. Fill out all forms completely and accurately. Be sure to sign and date. 6. Check in with the VAO about two months before the next term begins to be assured of certification for that semester. Elks foundation awards grants Students planning to pursue a vocational/technical course leading to an associate degree, certificate or diploma, but less than a baccalaureate degree, are eligible to compete for $2000 grants offered by the Elks National Foundation. The Foundation trustees have set aside $498,000 for grants to be awarded during the 1987/ 88 and 1988/ 89 academic years. The $2000 grant awards will be issued in $1000 increments for each of the two years. A total of249 grants will be awarded nationally, with additional grants allotted according to Elks' donations within each state. Although graduating high school seniors are eligible to apply, older students who desire training or retraining are encouraged to apply for these grants. A high school diploma or GED is not required. Applications are available from the Financial Aid Office and from local Lodges of the B.P.O. Elks of the U.S.A Deadline for application is November 25. Classes teach study skills By Jerry Bennington Services to help students with study skills are being offered by the Counseling Department. An hour workshop presentation on "Student Success Skills," is available upon request for the classroom. "Basic Study Skills," a one-unit course, uses a manual and cassette tapes at the student's own time and pace. "Overcoming Test Anxiety," a oneunit course deals with specific testtaking strategies with times available at the student's convenience. Students may enroll in "Basic Study Skills," Counseling 101, or "Overcoming Test Anxiety," Counseling 102, by visiting the Counseling Office, open Monday through Thursday from 7:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Fridays from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Individual appointments can also be made to deal with specific difficulties.

Unclaimed scholarships found Students may now have access to thousands of scholarships available nationwide due to a computerized scholastic search. Financial Aid Search Team (F.AS.T.) is a student owned and operated business designed to help students fill their financial needs. According to Ken Green, co-owner of F.AS.T., "$145 million worth of scholarships are unclaimed." Based
