John Trexel, Ken Staller, Jim CullQm, Bill Tipton and Al Hartman were workinG on the Palomar "P". At 9:30 a.m. the six-v~;heol­ er left the school.

Shortly afterward the truck ~as stuck in the mud.

Three continued up the slope to start the work, while Tipton and Hartman went back for the bulldozer.

On the way back they met I.lr. Forbes, school engineer, who told them that the "P", as it was previously staked out, was in the wrong spot.

The truck was pulleq out of the mud and the crew working on the hill was notified their work was in vain.

The follo,Hine Sunday Kenny Sims., Al IIartJ~1an and Bill Tipton staked out the new "P" and in seven hours the new letter was cleared of brush.

The letter still must be raked,. limed, and filled with white rocks. Al Hartman and his bunch are still looking for more volunteers to help.

LIBTIARY REC~IVES GIFT OF NATIONAL GEOGRAPHIC IIAGAZINES A donation ot: 240 consecutive-

ly numbered editions of the Nat'l Geocraphic Maga3ine was given to the Palomar library early this week b'y litr. Uarvin c. Park, of Encinitas. A very valuable collection, it covers the 20-year period between January 1927 and

1947.

Hr. Park, a retired naval officer, and his wife Ethel are both attending Palomar. They are taking cultural courses in the fields of are and Language. The~r gift will be a valuable reference sourde for student and faculty research.

Among the regular editions are several semi-annual editions, bound in leather, and a complete index coverinG the information to be found in the set.

This new addition to our library will be available for limited circulation.

The freshman class gave their annual dance at the San I.Tarcos Square Dance Sarn.

The theme of 11 11 the Cupid's Capers was worked out in suspended balloons and red hearts. ~ Tusic was furnished by 1"/Ir. Howard Kay's recently formed dance band. The band's music was qohsidered by the many rorho atte :~ded ns b0inc better than many professional ensembles.
