Ka Tu Mai a Haua
Koroneihana 2016 was a spectacular celebration for Kiingi Tuheitia’s tenth coronation. Thousands of visitors were again welcomed to Turangawaewae to remember those who have passed on and to pay tribute to the King and Kiingitanga These annual celebrations showcase and exemplify the best Maori orators, waiata and traditional arts from across Maoridom. In addition the people were treated to an extravaganza of performing arts including; Kapa Haka and a smorgasbord of contemporary Maori musical artists to contribute to the celebrations. The return of Rangiriri stirred emotions of the past but also hopes for the future while the ecumenical church service galvanised the principle of Whakapono and faith. The Sports events over the weekend saw Raungaiti Marae continue to hold on to the Koroneihana Rugby shield for the 8th consecutive year. Congratulations to all that participated and to all the organisers and workers for yet another successful and enjoyable event.
