Musezine 25

Musezine 25: Coexistence This year we chose the title “Coexistence” for our annual zine. Throughout the program, Teen Council has been considering how politics and media attention affect the LGBTQ community and communities of color. We also came to realize that these concerns were intersectional and often times impact more people than we know. We are excited to share Teen Council’s amazing art with you in issue #25 of our Musezine. Created in 2005, the Bronx Museum Teen Council offers dynamic experiences with contemporary art and culture through an intensive after-school program for teens. Structured around video production, artist interviews, zine publication, and exhibition curation, this 8-month program provides teens with an open forum for the expression of ideas and dialogue on issues affecting young people today. 2018-2019 Teen Council Aameer Johnson, Angel Crespo, Ashley Melendez, Biridiana Diaz, Carlos Vargas, Daniela Torres, Devon Sawyer, Jayla Hazel Niass, Mariday Kenlock, Natalia Ruzzi, Nyrie Irizarry, Ryan Figueroa, Soraya Sanchez Museum Educators: Aida Šehović and Edwin Gonzalez Front Cover: Carlos Vargas, Page 3 Carlos Vargas, Page 4 Soraya Sanchez, Page 5 Mariday Kenlock, Page 6 Jayla Hazel Niass, Page 7 Aameer Johnson, Page 8 Aameer Johnson, Page 9 Ashley Melendez, Page 10 Daniela Torres, Page 11 Devon Sawyer, Page 12 Angel Crespo, Page 13 Ashley Melendez, Page 14 Carlos Vargas, Page 15 Ashley Melendez, Page 16 Angel Crespo, Page 17 Biridiana Diaz, Page 18 Nyrie Irizarray, Page 19 Jayla Hazel Niass, Page 20 Nyrie Irizarray , Page 21 Natalia Ruzzi, Page 22 Angel Crespo, Page 23 Daniela Torres, Page 24 Nyrie Irizarray, Page 25 Biridiana Diaz, Page 26 Mariday Kenlock, Page 27 Mariday Kenlock, Page 28 Ryan Figueroa, Page 29 Devon Sawyer, Page 30 Natalia Ruzzi, Page 31 Mariday Kenlock, Page 32 Ryan Figueroa, Page 33 Soraya Sanchez, Page 34 Daniela Torres, Page 35 Aameer Johnson, Back Cover: Carlos Vargas Teen Council is made possible by the New York State Council on the Arts with the support of Governor Andrew M.
