Texas Longhorns: 2025 NCAA Division I Softball National Champions!

For the first time in program history, the Texas Longhorns have claimed the ultimate prize in collegiate softball: the NCAA Division I National Championship! In a thrilling best-of-three

series at the Women's College World Series in Oklahoma City, the No. 6 seeded Longhorns defeated the No. 12 seeded Texas Tech Red Raiders in Game 3 with a decisive 10-4 victory. This historic win on Friday, June 6, 2025, culminates a season of incredible resilience and sets a new program record with 56 wins.

A Dominant Performance in the Finals

After a tough Game 1 win and a Game 2 loss that forced a rubber match, the Longhorns came out swinging in the decisive Game 3. They unleashed an offensive explosion, plating five runs in the first inning against Texas Tech's star pitcher NiJaree Canady, and never looked back. Senior third baseman Mia Scott, playing through a torn ACL, put an exclamation mark on the victory with a grand slam in the fourth inning.

Sophomore pitcher Teagan Kavan was a force throughout the tournament, earning the Most Outstanding Player award. She set a WCWS record for the most innings pitched without allowing an earned run, throwing 31.2 scoreless innings. The Longhorns' triumph marks not only their first national title but also the SEC's first in 10 years, solidifying their place in softball history.
