To me, yes, but all depends on the weather. Also depends on what a furry jacket is. To me, it’s a plush furry fleece jacket. North Face Osito, Patagonia R2/3/4 or any other plush jacket. My experience is I don’t use puffer jackets a lot. I use fleece jackets year round and I’m in Upstate NY. I’ve used North Face Ositos with a NF Chimborazo jacket or hoodie underneath. They are micro fleece outside Sherpa fur inside. That combo can go down to 0 easily and if need be I throw a down vest over it. Even if it’s rain or snow puffer jackets to me wet out to easily and I’m talking high end LL Bean and NF. My NF Osito can withstand a downpour for 5 minutes and if the rain stops it will dry but remain warm. If I really want plush warmth I step up to the R4 which unfortunately isn’t made anymore. It’s windproof plush fleece and takes a ton of water before saturation. Not with a puffer jacket!
When I wear a down jacket in cold weather conditions, I find that my body temperature is better regulated. I don’t get as cold when I’m wearing a down jacket, and I don’t get as hot when I’m indoors. Yes, a good fur coat will keep you warm, and most fur coats I’ve seen have pockets. Many women will wear gloves along with her fur, so that also helps in keeping her hands warm,
even if she keeps her hands in the coat pocket. Many women will also wear a wool or cashmere muffler about the neck to keep out the cold. After all, who wants to get a sore throat?! Other benefits aside from warmth is that nontangible feeling of elegance.
Or do you mean a winter jacket that looks puffy? I hate puffer jackets for their bulky appearance and overall nylon-like irritating touch. The sportive outlook is also not made for me. I do love my teddy fur coat for cold days. It is a thick, fluffy fabric that everyone wants to touch. I never wear sweaters, jumpers or cardigans. Instead, I do wear skintight long sleeve shirts or skinny leather jackets under my teddy fur coat if it runs cold. One of these garments will not block the wind but when wearing them both it feels much better without having to resort to a puffer jacket.
