The vendors might not even know too, as they go through distributors, contractors and subcontractors who source from all over the world. We could probably trace investments to a certain point, but the money has already been circulating through so much by trade, that everything has been “touched” by Chinese hands and minds. It is through trade, that our money still has stable value, and it’s not jumping up and down all over the place. Many American businesses, large and small, rely a lot on credit and loans. Many of their consumers also depend on credit and loans. Decoupling from China in the financing world, is going to wreck this, and many businesses will not survive without them. Speaking as a corporate executive in US manufacturing, the US will not bring manufacturing back as long as Americans continue to shop for the lowest price. Walmart (and other discount) shoppers are the primary reason we don’t have manufacturing here. Americans would prefer to buy cheaper Chinese-made products at Walmart than buy US-made products from a local manufacturer. When Americans are ready to deliberately support the domestic economy, instead of supporting the Chinese and Southeast Asian economy, manufacturing will return.
