Depends on your office culture. I’ve work kilts to work for years, for a number of different employers. I just had a quick chat with my line manager to see if they were fine with it. My philosophy on that is if they are good enough for you to make a living I love getting called to the office I'm usually coverd in grease oil dirt I will give you a descriptive list of inappropriate clothing from the time I worked at several banks. Now I didn't see every single item, but quite a few. This list mostly applied to women.
Kilts are an amazingly versatile piece of clothing: they can actually be worn basically like trousers; the formality of the outfit comes from what you pair it with. Firstly, please, please do not get a utilikilt. They - of course - are not suitable for business casual, but they’re also abominations; they’re bastardised kilts. I would suggest that a fairly muted tartan, in red tones or green, would be best for business casual. the yellow tones would allow for matching mustard tweeds, the green tones for green tweed, and the red and blue accents allow you to match accessories. It wouldn't be right for me to tell you which tartan you should wear, but the things I highlighted above are some things you should consider when matching jackets and accessories to kilts: main colour, strongest secondary colours, and accents.
For business casual, you’ll want some kind of blazer. The traditional choice for this kind of get up is tweed, and I would advise sticking to it: its texture and thickness compliments the thick and rough-looking tartan of a kilt. Any other material that shares the thickness and rough appearance of tweed would do as well though. The pronounced curve at the bottom is common to most kilt jackets, and is advised for wearing with kilts. If you have a blazer that you think looks okay (and isn't too long) over the kilt, I’m sure it would look okay! Do not, please do not wear tartan accessories with a kilt.
