This project reimagines a Museum of Magic and Witchcraft in a way that will survive floods and embodies the complexity of witchcraft and their identities, and in particular one important witch: tarot creator Pamela Colman Smith. Both tarot cards and architecture can be considered nonlinear narratives, which here begin the iterative remembering of a history and a place in which unpredictability is constant. Smith’s cards are the design method through which, positioned as an ‘architectural witch’, perform a ‘reading’ of the North Cornish site of Boscastle and its attendant climateprecarity, its history of salvage and magic, its coastal liminality, and the collection of the existing Museum.

I worked on site topography modelling and data comparison, cladding systems, building infrastructure and waste management, balustrade design, entrance levels resolution, landscape design concepts, interior design and finishes, interface with listed site elements, and retail shopfront concept design.
