Economic Development Overview Sixteen businesses filed for Certificate of Occupancy Permits in 2023 including ten (10) new businesses in the Downtown District.

TECUMSEH BREAD & PASTRY Tecumseh Bread & Pastry is a quaint neighborhood bakery in Lenawee county, being the first of its kind in the area to offer hand-crafted from scratch croissants, fresh milled & locally grown flour in all products, and delicious crusty sourdough breads without the use of commercial yeast. Established 2016 in Tecumseh, Michigan, operating out of a catering companies building during offhours, they quickly became a small-business with a wonderful following of customers thanks to their community and commitment to their product standards. Tecumseh Bread & Pastry opened its NEW LOCATION at 118 W Chicago Boulevard in January 2023.

THREE BRIDGES BOUTIQUE Three Bridges Boutique is the second store for the mother and daughter duo, Susan Savarin and Heather Marks. The first store opened in Blissfield, Michigan in 2019. Their Tecumseh store officially launched in April 2023 and specializes in women and children’s clothing, fashion, shoes, accessories and home goods. They often collaborate with other businesses for pop-ups and after hour events. Their Tecumseh boutique is located at 154 E Chicago Boulevard.
IRISH HILLS REALTY Irish Hills Realty has opened a new office in Tecumseh at 214 E. Chicago Blvd., the former location of The Sports Hut. Owner and broker Mitchell Ramsey and his crew are ready to serve home buyers and sellers in the Tecumseh area. The realtors, who will work out of both the new location and the office at 6867 U.S. 12 in the Irish Hills, will be able to assist anyone looking for a home in Tecumseh and the surrounding area. The office will be open from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday through Friday.

SUNSET RIDGE BBQ Sunset Ridge BBQ originally began as a food truck and catering business bringing the taste of Texas to Michigan with its traditional, wood-fired BBQ, dry rubbed and slow smoked in a steel pit. They opened as a carry out in August 2023, with a menu that includes pulled chicken, pulled pork, brisket chili, chicken-n-dumplings, sliders, sandwiches and so much more! You can find them at 113 S Evan Street.
THE MATTHEWS HOUSE Two sisters transplanted from the Chicago area of Illinois to Tecumseh, have not only put down roots in the community, but have also opened a retail store downtown to fill the space between J-Bar Hobbies and Pentamere Winery. Ela Dineen and Silvia Frey recently purchased the former Boulevard Chiropractic building at 127 E. Chicago Blvd. from Dr. Charles Berrington with the intention of creating a home furnishings and décor store including textiles, pillows, blankets, kitchenware, and diningware. The Matthews House officially opened in October 2023.

TECUMSEH TAVERN Bill Leisenring and his son, Jack, saw their dream fulfilled when Tecumseh Tavern officially opened at 206 E. Chicago Blvd in November 2023, completing a journey that began when Bill’s company, Ring Estates, purchased the former Tecumseh Camera Shop in 2022. The British-inspired tavern welcomes customers of all ages to its warm, inviting atmosphere. The theme was inspired by Bill’s travels to the United Kingdom and his experience in the pubs there, stating “There’s just a certain charm to being in a neighborhood pub and we wanted to bring that here”.
THE BEAUTY SANCTUARY With their opening in November 2023, The Beauty Sanctuary’s mission is to provide the best service they can. They promise not only to provide a quality service, but to give you a chance to relax, and enjoy yourself while you are with them. Julez Suller has been a hair stylist for 9 years, spending 3 of those years as a cosmetology teacher at Douglas J Aveda in Ann Arbor. Stylist Megan Skoonieski has been a licensed cosmetologist since 2009, providing clients with both hair & nail services. This cozy salon is located at 102 W Chicago Blvd Suite 203.

TEMPLE FITNESS The former St. Peter’s Episcopal Church has been renamed “Temple Fitness.” Owner Larry Anderson, who has been an entrepreneur for the last three decades, is hoping to capitalize on a rebirth in the fitness industry, which was crippled by the pandemic. Anderson owns a number of properties in Lenawee County. Temple Fitness features a 5,000-square-foot main area that Anderson said will have Selecterize pin-loaded workout machines.
ACCELERATED FITNESS Harrison and Angelina Sander, formerly of southern California, opened their doors on their 24/7 private fitness studio at the end of 2023 at 123 S. Ottawa Street. Accelerated Fitness is a “members only” private fitness studio with 24/7 access. Fitness coaching is available during regular business hours. The programs are tailored for each individual’s goals and abilities, and designed for those who have a limited amount of time to work out each day.

ARBY’S The fast-food chain officially opened a new location at 1267 W. Chicago Boulevard in October of 2023. With two drive through lanes, customers are sure to have fast and efficient service. Joe Crawford, owner of Lake Fenton Properties and franchisee of the restaurant, also owns a number of Arby’s in Southeast Michigan. His family has been involved with Arby’s since 1989. While Arby’s is a national fast food chain, the franchisees are local and are thrilled to be apart of the Tecumseh community.

BLUE STEEL AUTOMOTIVE Located at 509 Mohawk Street, Blue Steele Automotive is a new buisness to the south east area of Tecumseh. Services that they provide include collion repair, custom paint & design, as well as restoration & rust repair. Lucian, the shop owner has had over a decade of collision and paint experience and is excited to expand and open a new shop in his home town Tecumseh, MI.

THE BROOM CLOSET Opening in June 2023, The Broom Closet is a Holistic Wellness and Metaphysical supply shop. Previously Lenawee county’s largest Rock Shop, they also have an expansive selection of natural & organic wellness products.
You can find The Broom Closet at 406 N. Pearl Street. Hours of operation are TuesdayThursday 11am-6pm, Friday 11am-5pm, and Saturday 11am-4pm.
KING AND CROSS TATTOO C Located at 740 Mill Hwy, just down the road from Tecumseh’s main street, King & Cross Tattoo Co. sits on a beautiful riverside property. King & Cross Tattoo Co. is a chic and unique tattoo studio, operating out of the heart of Tecumseh, Michigan. In thier efforts to support Tecumseh’s community, King & Cross offers a gallery of artwork that is all locally made by talented, hardworking artists.

INFUSION PERFORMING ARTS ACADEMY Infusion Performing Arts Academy is a high-quality education program for students ages 2-adult in the areas of Ballet, Tap, Jazz, Lyrical, Modern, Hip Hop, Pointe and other forms of Performing Arts. Jennifer Williams is ecstatic about the new opportunities that her studio will provide for the community. Their studio expansion is located at 828 N Evans, with thier office location at 601 Orchard Lane.
NAUGLE HEATING AND COOLING CO. Naugle Heating & Cooling is locally owned & operated by husband and wife team James Nagypal and Lisa Weddle. Purchased in February 2020, James and Lisa retured to the Tecumseh area to bring back to this community James’ extensive heating, cooling, and plumbing experience.
