When it comes to quantifying the benefits generated by technical training beyond its cost and economic impact, it’s simple to conclude that it is essential for our professional evolution and development to learn new techniques, acquire new skills and, in turn, grow personally and collectively.

At Tecnopol we are convinced that the evolution of companies is closely linked to the continuous training of their staff, through knowledge of the use and application of new construction systems, and of the tools, machines and techniques necessary for the correct performance of new challenges, which must serve to place them at the forefront of the sector and on the path to growth.

Liquid waterproofi ng systems have evolved a great deal in recent years, and are highly valued by the sector, as demonstrated by the growing number of opinion leaders who use them, convinced of their effectiveness and quality. However, in order to safeguard the good image and reputation of these systems, the co-responsibility of all the players involved is necessary, from the manufacturer to the final applicator, which can only be achieved through optimal professionalisation and the specific training of the professionals involved in the process.

Specialisation and training generate new expectations for professionals, acting as a motivational lever which in turn allows the potential and talent of each member of the team to be developed. The ultimate goal is to train experts who can respond to a growing production need, without ever neglecting quality, the basic objective of any organisation.

Tecnopol took a step forward a few months ago with the creation of Tecnopol Academy, a specialised training centre to transmit the knowledge and support necessary to maintain professional excellence; the greatest expression of which is the company's new corporate building where face-to-face and remote courses are held for all those interested in advanced, in-depth study of the professional and cutting-edge market for waterproofing for all types of roofs, buildings, infrastructure or existing spaces, whether internal or external, above or below water.

The Tecnopol Academy facilities have spaces spaces for theoretical and practical training, demonstrations of systems, and a ventilated cabin in which the products and techniques of polyurethane and polyurethane projection are shown. In addition, a common space has been designed with a leisure area and a canteen, where participants can share the knowledge gained during the sessions between training sessions or over a relaxed breakfast or lunch, creating a direct dialogue with the trainers which is ideal for sharing possible doubts and concerns.

The courses are based on outlines and syllabuses designed by our teaching team, made up of technical architects, product chemistry experts and specialised consultants. The content is adapted according to the

specific needs of each client and training action. In recent months, numerous courses and seminars have already been held, aimed at very different professional groups, such as technical offices, applicators and distributors.

NEW R&D LABORATORY

The refurbishment has led to a considerable extension of the existing facilities, doubling the surface area and bringing a series of advantages, including the physical separation of the R&D and Quality Control departments. This separation allows more accurate, thorough control of all products produced due to multiple improvements, such as better control of humidity and ambient temperature in the analysis area.

Another advantageous consequence of the expanded quality control department is a greater capacity for analysis, as the company's needs have increased as a result of its production growth.

On the other hand, a great advance derived from the refurbishment of the laboratory has been the expansion and modernisation of the R&D&I area of all the development lines, in particular reinforcing the polyurethane foam formulation area, which allows us to focus on the development of new high-performance foams, which include properties superior to those currently on the market.

The development, waterproofing and flooring lines have also been modernised with new equipment and facilities. In recent months, new products such as SETIPOL PU Hybrid, DESMOPLUS 700 and TECNOFLOOR STF 7020 have been developed, tested and launched. at the forefront of the market.

It should be noted that the investment in the R&D&I department has not only focused on improving and increasing the work area, but has also been updated with the acquisition of advanced measurement and analysis equipment so that the research team can advance in its essential task of developing new products at the forefront of the market.

THE TC-1049 IS THE NEW HIGH-PERFORMANCE COMPACT TECNOPOL SPRAYING EQUIPMENT THAT ALLOWS THE APPLICATION OF BOTH POLYUREA MEMBRANES AND POLYURETHANE FOAMS.

The simplicity and features of the equipment facilitate installation and commissioning. In addition, Tecnopol provides a set of tools and accessories together with the equipment to make assembly easier and more comfortable. As for the hoses, they are vacuum-dried to ensure that the strictest sealing requirements are met at the time of installation.

The assembly is equipped with two positive displacement piston pumps driven by a double-rod hydraulic cylinder. This parallel piston pump system provides a constant volume and guarantees uniform pressures in both directions of pump travel, thus ensuring the total uniformity of the application.

The machine has an integrated heating system with sufficient power for the most common hose configurations:

� Recirculation hoses with a maximum length of 11 metres

� 20-metre hoses heated with 230 V wire and fitted with a temperature sensor.

As an additional option for more demanding jobs, an external transformer is available as an accessory that allows the heated hose length to be extended up to 48 metres, making the TC-1049 compact unit one of the most versatile on the market.

Stone carpet flooring is a type of continuous flooring that is notable for having a totally natural finish, for its resistance and for the infinite number of possible finishes. Moreover, this type of flooring, which is increasingly used, is extremely durable and very easy to maintain.

This type of flooring is formed with small stones or natural rocks, prepared in a suitable format to be mixed with a chemical binder that will keep them together and compacted on the floor, forming a flat, continuous and non-slip flooring. The quality and properties of the binder will determine the result and durability of the resulting flooring.

The TECNFLOOR STF-7020 is a 100% solid aliphatic polyurethane designed as a rock binder, intended for bonding rocks in areas required to support traffic of both people and vehicles. As an aliphatic product — i.e. it does not yellow after exposure to the sun's UV rays — it is ideal for decorating terraces, gardens, parks and even for industrial applications.

This dual-component product is easy to apply, with a fast drying time (4-5 hours) and good physical properties. It is suitable for pedestrian traffic 8-10 hours after application, while after 24 hours it can withstand vehicular traffic without any problem.

The marketing format is 2.5 kg for component A and 4.5 kg for component B, this combination allows for mixing in the same can as component B.

The product is designed so that a 7 kg kit can be mixed with a 100 kg bag of stones, as the suggested mixing ratio by weight is 1 part resin to 13.5 parts stone. For mixing

resin and aggregate, the use of a forced-action mixer such as a concrete mixer or specialised mixing equipment is recommended.

In addition, for applications where faster drying is required, Tecnopol has developed the Tecnofloor STF-7020 Accelerator. This additive reduces drying time to 3 hours, foot traffic readiness to 4-5 hours and vehicle readiness after 20 hours. In this case, for a 7 kg kit of Tecnofloor STF-7020, 150 g of Tecnofloor STF-7020 Accelerator are required. In this way, the process would be completely finished in less than 24 hours, meaning extremely fast commissioning for a product of these characteristics.

walkable areas for both people and vehicles.”

Spanish Royal Decree 140/2003 establishes the sanitary criteria for the quality of water for human consumption, where, among other details, parameters and parametric values to be met in relation to water for human consumption made available to the consumer are established. These values are mainly based on the recommendations of the World Health Organisation and the application of laws; therefore, the precautionary principle always prevails to ensure a high level of protection of the health of the population.

The Royal Decree affects any construction product or coating that may be in contact with drinking water, including catchments, pipelines, DWTPs, supply and distribution networks, tanks, cisterns, etc. This essentially means any element located between the catchment point and the delivery point of the water.

DESMOPOL DW , a dual-component polyurethane waterproofing membrane, is a material that has successfully passed all the tests carried out by the independent EUROFINS laboratory, obtaining a fully satisfactory result. Analyses concluded that:

� For the parameters analysed, the material complies with the requirements established in Spanish Royal Decree 140/2003 and its modifications included in RD902/2018.

� No chemical reaction of the product is observed at 20 ppm of chlorine, the product complies with the requirements of Spanish Royal Decree 140/2003 and its modifications included in RD902/2018.

In addition to the DESMOPOL DW polyurethane membrane, the pure polyurea TECNOCOAT P-2049 and the water-based screed TECNOFLOOR TW-3040 have also been successfully tested in accordance with Spanish Royal Decree 140/2003.

TECNOTOP 2C white

The Solar Reflectance Index ( SRI ) is the scale that measures the ability of a roof to reject solar heat and is manifested by a small temperature rise.

The SRI scale ranges from 0 to 100, where 0 corresponds to the value that absorbs the most heat (e.g. a tar roof) and 100 the most reflective or least heat-radiating value.

The latest tests carried out on white TECNOTOP 2C by the Enzo Ferrari Engineering Department of the EELab

laboratories have resulted in an SRI of 105, a higher result than would be obtained with a theoretical pure white.

Based on this exceptional result, we may conclude that TECNOTOP 2C white is a perfect coating to be used as a final finish on all types of roofs and elements exposed to the sun, especially if used as a protective coating for waterproofing membranes or floorings.

Sustainability, energy saving and the use of passive solutions for thermal control are becoming increasingly essential aspects in the design of projects, which is why the use of solutions such as white TECNOTOP 2C is becoming more frequent and widespread.

CASE STUDY ALL ENGLAND TENNIS AND CRIQUET CLUBWIMBLEDON

Wimbledon is one of the most high-profile sporting events in the world, and the All England Club is the venue for the annual tournament.

In 2021, repair and waterproofing works were carried out on the concrete stands of the main arena, including the flat areas and the access stairs.

The solution chosen for this project was the TECNOCOAT P-2049 pure polyurea system, which has passed European Technical Assessment ETA 11/0357 for roof waterproofing and also has a specific approval for the British market, specifically BBA 16/5340, which certifies the system as suitable for waterproofing of trafficbearing roofs, among other purposes. Having the latter certification was key to the success of the project.

Surface lamination was carried out according to ICRI (SPC 4). The structural joints and existing cuts in the concrete slab were treated with specific strips and mastics to overprotect the system. Smaller cracks were cleaned and filled with polyurethane putty.

In addition, the metal L-pieces of the stairs were removed, and the stairs were refilled and sealed with PRIMER EP-1010 epoxy mortar.

Finally, before proceeding with the priming, a general cleaning was carried out by removing the dust with an industrial hoover.

The product used as a primer was PRIMER PU-1050 polyurethane resin, which was applied by roller in several cross coats. A total of 250 g/m² was applied. In addition to improving the adhesion of the PU membrane, this resin absorbs any residual moisture that may exist, seals the concrete and fills small irregularities in the surface, achieving greater planimetry.

3POLYUREA COATING

Once the materials and spraying equipment had been installed and checked, the TECNOCOAT P-2049 pure polyurea membrane was applied. The total thickness applied was 2.5 mm. DFT (2.7 kg/m²)

During the hot spraying of the material, a dusting of mineral aggregate was applied to increase the surface resistance to abrasion and provide an anti-slip finish, which was essential for this project.

4COATING RESIN

Finally, as a finishing material, TECNOTOP 2C aliphatic dual-component polyurethane resin was applied by short-nap roller in two crossed coats. The total consumption applied was 250 g/m².

TECNOTOP 2C not only offers a high quality decorative finish — in this case in the "official green” colour — but also protects the membrane against UV rays.

KEY POINTS — ADVANTAGES OF THE APPLIED SYSTEM

The conditions and favourable points that decided the choice of our TECNOCOAT P-2049 liquid waterproofing system were the following:

• High resistance to puncturing and abrasion, which ensures watertightness in cases such as this: a large area with heavy pedestrian or vehicular traffic.

• Optimum waterproofing on both flat and vertical surfaces.

• Very fast execution compared to other systems, avoiding delays in the execution of the work.

• It can be applied in zero-slope conditions, accepting waterlogged water, as certified according to the S1-S4 classification issued in ETA 11/0357 and BBA 16/5340.

• High resistance to abrasion and perforation, guaranteeing watertightness.

The diving Pool-Qatar

Tecnopol has started waterproofing works for a project to construct a gigantic diving pool in Doha, Qatar.

Initially, 15,000 m² will be waterproofed with the TECNOCOAT polyurea system.

RIVER PLATE

The stadium, also known as Estadio River Plate, Monumental de Nuñez, or simply El Monumental, is the home ground of the Argentinean team River Plate.

It was inaugurated on 26 May 1938 and is named after former club president Antonio Vespucio Liberti (19001978). It is the largest stadium in Argentina, with a capacity of 70,054 spectators, and is also the home of the Argentine national football team.

A major refurbishment project is currently underway in which the TECNOCOAT H-2049 polyurea system will be used for coating and waterproofing 27,000 m2 of existing and newly constructed stands. The prescribed system is as follows:
