ProsperISDisdedicatedtoprovidingallstudentsanengagingandrigorousacademicexperiencewhilepreparingour studentstobecreativecollaborators,effectivecommunicators,andcriticalproblemsolversinadiverseglobalizedsociety. Webelievetechnologyisatoolthatenablesourstudentstolearnthecurriculumatadeeperlevel,andwebelievethatthe curriculumisthedrivingforcebehindtechnologyusageintheclassroom.
ItisthepolicyofProsperISDtomaintainanenvironmentthatpromotesethicalandresponsibleconductwithall electronicresourcesandactivities Thisprivilegeandextraordinaryopportunitytoexploreresourcescomeswitha responsibilityforparentsandstudents
WhensigningtheProsperISDResponsibleUsePolicy,youareacknowledgingthatyouunderstand,accept,andagreeto abidebytheinformationandrequirementsoutlinedinthisdocument:

1. ProsperISDreservestherighttorestrictaccesstotechnologyatanytime.
2 TheuseofProsperISDequipment (“PISDEquipment”)andassociatedtechnologyisaprivilege,notaright
3. ThereisnoexpectationofprivacyfromProsperISDwhenusingProsperISDtechnologyresources.Allfiles storedonPISDEquipment,theDistrict’snetwork,and/orthecloudmaybesubjecttoreviewandmonitoring.
4 Theterms“equipment”and“device”refertoanydeviceorassociatedaccessoriessuchascomputers,tablets, batteries,powercords/chargers,cases,keyboards,mice,chargingcartsetc Allequipment,devices,anddigital resourcesarethepropertyofProsperISD
5. Theterms“software”or“services”refertoanyapplicationsortools,internaloronline,providedbyProsperISD. SoftwareorserviceslicensedbytheDistrictarethepropertyofProsperISD.
6 StudentsandfamiliesmustcomplyatalltimeswiththeProsperISDResponsibleUsePolicywhenusing technologyordigitalresourcesprovidedbyProsperISD,orwhenusingtheirowndevicesonDistrictproperty,at home,oratschool-relatedevents
7. AllrulesandguidelinesforDistrict-providedequipment,services, andaccountsareineffectatalltimes,onoroff thecampus.
8 Studentsarenotpermittedtotakeclassroomdeviceshomewithoutpriorwrittenauthorizationfromthe TechnologyDepartment IfastudentisgivenpermissiontotakeaDistrictdevicehome,thestudent’sparentor guardianwillbeaskedtosignaStudentChromebookEquipmentCheckoutForm,whichdocumentsthedevice information.Inthiscase,studentsareheldtothesameDistrictResponsibleUsePolicy.
9 Allusersmustcomplywithschool,District,local,stateandfederallaws,wheneverapplicable
10. Studentsareexpectedtokeepequipmentingood,workingconditionwithoutalterations,markings,ordamageof anykind.Failuretodosomayresultinconsequencesdeemedappropriatebycampusadministration.
11. StudentsareexpectedtonotifyacampusTechnologypersonoradministratorimmediatelyifthereisaccidentalor non-accidentaldamagetotheirdeviceorassociatedaccessories.Ifequipmentisusedinappropriately,lost, damaged,orsimplyneglected,disciplinaryconsequencesmayresultalongwithfeesconsistentwiththedamage.
12 Studentswhoidentifyorknowofasecurityproblemareexpectedtoconveythedetailstotheirteacher,counselor, schooladministrator,orTechnologypersonnelimmediatelywithoutdiscussingtheproblemwithotherstudents
13. Ifastudentbelievesthattheirusernameorpasswordhasbeencompromisedinanyway,thestudentmustcontact ateacher,administrator,ortheTechnologyDepartmentimmediatelytoassessthesituation.
14 Ifastudentdiscoversinformation,images,ormessagesthatareinappropriate,dangerous,threatening,orcause discomfort,thestudentshouldimmediatelynotifyateacher,counselor,orschooladministratorwithoutdiscussing itwithotherstudents
15. StudentsareprohibitedfromusingProsperISDresourcesatschool,home,oranyotherlocationtobullyany individualincluding,butnotlimitedto,otherstudentsorstaff.
16 StudentsmaynotuseanyProsperISDorpersonalresourcesatschoolorathometomaliciouslyhack,introduce virusesorothermalware,ormanipulateormodifyother’sfileswithoutpermission
17. Studentsmaynotrecord,take,ordistributephotographs/videosofstudentsorstaffmemberswithouttheir permission
18. Studentsareexpectedtofollowexistingcopyrightlaw(Title17,USC)andeducationalfairusepolicies.
19 StudentsmayonlyloginusingtheirDistrict-assignedusername Studentsmustnotsharetheirpasswordsor studentIDnumberswithotherstudents
20. ProsperISDmayremoveauser’saccesstothenetwork/cloudstorage,email,oranyotherservicewithoutnotice atanytimeifauserisengagedinanyunauthorizedactivity.
BringYourOwnDevice(BYOD)
ProsperISDbelievesthattechnologyisatoolthatenablesourstudentstolearncurriculumatadeeperlevel,andwe believethatcurriculumisthedrivingforcebehindtechnologyusageintheclassroom BYODtechnologyisdefinedas technologyusedatschoolbutnotownedbyProsperISD. Allstudents,whetherusingDistricttechnologyortheirown technology,areexpectedtofollowtheDistrict’sResponsibleUsePolicy.
Atsomecampuses,studentsmaybringandusepersonalportableelectronicdevices Campusprincipalsandclassroom teachersdeterminewhetheruseofthistechnologyispermissible BYODisaprivilege,notaright,andinappropriateuse mayresultincancellationofthatprivilege.
Thefollowingguidelinesmustbefollowedbystudentsusingapersonally-ownedelectronicdeviceatschool:
1 Campusadministratorsandteachershavetherighttoprohibitstudentsfromusingvideo,photographic,oraudio recordingontheirpersonaldevices(includingphones,smartwatches,andGPSparentaltrackers)orrestrictthe useofanyapporfeatureasdeemednecessaryforthepurposesofclassroomprivacy,safety,andinstruction
2. Administratorsmayexamineastudent’spersonaldeviceandsearchitscontentsifthereisreasontobelievethe ResponsibleUsePolicyhasbeenviolated.
3. DevicesoperatedbystudentsatschoolmustutilizetheProsperISD-Wirelessnetwork.
4 StudentsmaynotinterferewithorcircumventtheProsperISD-Wirelessnetworkbyusingpersonalnetworking devicesorsoftwaresuchaswifihotspots,accesspoints,routers,etc,whichcoulddisruptPISDEquipmentand/or servicesduetotheintroductionofmalwareortheuseofmaliciouswebsites
5. UseoftheProsperISD-Wirelessthroughpersonally-owneddevicesisonlyintendedforinstructionaluse.Prosper ISD-Wirelessmaybeshutdownentirelytosafeguardtheintegrityofthenetwork,protectstudentsfrommalware ormaliciousactors,orensurethefunctioningofProsperISDowneddevicesandservices.
6 Studentsareresponsibleforsafeguardingtheirownpersonaldevices ProsperISDwillnotbeliableforthe replacementorrepairofanypersonaldevicewhichisdamagedorstolenwhileonDistrictproperty Anydata and/orSMS/MMS(texting)chargeswillnotbereimbursedbyProsperISD
7. Studentsareresponsiblefortheirdevicesetup,maintenance,andcharging.Employeeswillnotstoreastudent’s deviceunlessthedevicewastakenupasadisciplinaryactionorfortesting.NoDistrictemployeewilldiagnose, repair,orworkonastudent’spersonaldevice
8 PersonalandProsperISDdeviceshavemonetaryvalue Studentsareprohibitedfromstealing,trading,orselling theseitemsto/fromanyone.Ifastudentfindsanotherindividual’spersonalorProsperISDdevice(s),thestudent mustreportittothecampustechnicianoranadministrator.
9 Studentsareprohibitedfromengagingine-commerceusingPISDEquipmentortheirowndevice(s)whilein ProsperISDfacilities
ContentFiltering
WhiletheDistrictusesfilteringtechnologiesandprotectionmeasurestomakeaconcertedefforttorestrictaccessto inappropriatematerial,itisnotpossibletoabsolutelypreventsuchaccess.Studentcompliancewiththerulesfor responsibleuseasoutlinedinthisagreementincreasestheeffectivenessoftheDistrict’sprotectionmeasures.Asaccessto theProsperISDnetworkisaprivilege,administratorsandfacultymayreviewfilesandmessagestomaintainsystem integrityandensurethatusersareactingresponsibly.WhenProsperISDdevicesareusedatotherlocations,theDistrict expectsthatparentsandguardianswillmonitorthecontentaccessedonthedevice
StolenEquipment
IfDistrictownedorpersonalequipmentisstolen,astudentmustcontactanassistantprincipaloraprincipalwhowill initiateaProsperISDpolicereport.Failuretoreportathefttoschooladministrationmayresultinthelossoftheuseofa District-provideddeviceforastudent
