Team-building or team coaching? In the corporate environment, the HR department often coordinates team-building activities where teams break their routine and get together in a fun way to learn about their peers. These activities are crafted to establish personal links between team members and increase team awareness. However, these one-off teaming activities along with team building are often used interchangeably with team coaching. Both these terms are completely different in the contextual as well as functional approach. Although they are overlapping and interrelated, they are used in diverse contexts and for different reasons. Team-building fosters relationships and strengthens communication, but it does not have anything to do with the performance of an organization or the efficiency of the employees. On the other hand, team coaching is an integrated approach that involves a series of steps.

Difference between team coaching and team building? HR Departments burn money and efforts on team-building activities to facilitate a more collaboratively seamless thinking environment. To reaffirm commitments and to build mutual respect, enterprises organize team-building activities. However, team building isn’t just enough.
