CONNECTIONS
We are stronger together. We are on our pathway to success. We are PURIS!
What an exciting time of year it is! Just as the fall season ushers in some exciting events such as cheering for your favorite football team, enjoying cooler temperatures or preparing for the upcoming holidays, I’m equally excited about the progress we are making as an organization!
As many of you are aware, merging three of the industry’s leading trenchless providers into a single entity over the past 6 months has not been a challenge-free endeavor! However, as we enter the final quarter of 2022, we should all be proud about our progress to date and excited about the possibilities that are ahead of us. Teams around the country across all business units have been working relentlessly to enhance our business and make us stronger as one entity. These improvements and operational enhancements will position us for greater success in the New Year ahead!
At the forefront of this success is Safety. Getting our teams around the country through their day injury free will always be our top priority. As we continue to roll out our company-wide safety program aimed at reducing job-site hazards, I’m happy to report that we are on track to beat last year’s TRIR rating and total safety incident recordables! Don’t forget, safety starts with you and each team member is empowered with stop work authority to address safety concerns anywhere or anytime.
Along with improved Safety, we are steadily making progress towards strengthening our financial performance. We are closing out troubled projects, eliminating wasteful spending, increasing project execution focus, minimizing quality defects and booking higher calorie business. These are a few of the many initiatives that are yielding positive results. I’m confident this enhanced focus on performance across all regions and

departments will result in healthier financial results that support our incentive programs to benefit all our valued employees.
Lastly, as CEO, my goal is to create a company culture that we can all be proud of! Considering this, I’m very excited about the recent announcement of our new parent company name, PURIS! As this new name suggests, we have a “fresh start” to reposition ourselves as the leading trenchless solutions provider in North America! When you couple our expansive, experienced teams with our proven product solutions we are destined to win!
Thanks to all of you for your hard work and dedication to put PURIS on the pathway to success and let’s continue to push together for a strong 2022 finish! Take care of yourselves and each other.

Employee Safety
IN the Workplace
A safe and healthy workplace not only protects workers from injury and illness, it can also lower injury/illness costs, reduce absenteeism and turnover, increase productivity and quality, and raise employee morale. In other words, safety is good for business.
Eachand every person who leaves for work in the morning should come back to their home in good health. Have you ever imagined that your loved one will never be returning home? Or you could get a call that he/she is in the hospital due to an accident?
health and safety procedures are important for the well-being of both employees and employers because accidents resulting in injury or even death are immeasurable and intolerable.
Work injuries and illnesses can affect every aspect of life for workers and their families. For workers, injuries or illnesses can cause:
• Loss of life
Pain and suffering
Loss of income and financial well-being
Stress on relationships
Loss of job or career
• Health-care costs beyond what is covered by insurance
Workers may also suffer from low self-esteem, loss of independence, mental health problems, other medical problems, and damaged relationships.
Safety Starts with Me! We are all responsible for promoting safety culture on job sites and in the office. When it comes to safety we should never leave a team member behind. It is the responsibility of all that everyone goes home safe to their families.
If you’re working and you see something that you deem unsafe, or if you notice at-risk behavior going on, take the initiative and stop work. Sometimes the most important work you can do is to STOP WORKING.
Stop Work Authority provides employees and contract workers with the responsibility and obligation to stop work when a perceived unsafe condition or behavior may result in an unwanted event. Performing a Stop Work Authority to correct safety hazards and halt potential unsafe actions before they happen is not only responsible, but also effective.
Work safe so that you go home to your family and friends. Make safety a core value!

Project SpotlightDENVER, CO CIPP
This CIPP job for Metro Water Recovery in Denver, CO included two installations. One upstream (reversing under the equipment up the street) and one downstream (same setup but installing going away from the equipment).
The first installation was 70-inch diameter, 25 MM thickness, the second installation was 77-inch diameter, 28 MM thickness with a total length of 2,500 linear feet. Both tubes were manufactured by our very own Liner Products.
The total sewage flow in the line was 75 MGD and of that, 45 MGD was diverted upstream (shifted to another line). The rest was bypassed (30 MGD) using Velocity – A Cogent Company as subcontractor.
The whole site installation (both shots) took two weeks from setup to removal of equipment.
The cityscape shown in the background is the City of Denver framed by the Rocky Mountains and the Platte River.
IN THE FIELD WITH MURPHY PIPELINE
- Nelson MandelaWith an emphasis on educating municipalities and engineers on the value of trenchless, Murphy Pipeline Contractors (MPC) hosts public field visits also known as Open Days. MPC hosts about 10-12 Open Days a year to educate owners and promote new technology in the trenchless market. A recent Open Day took place in Omaha, NE showcasing the trenchless process of water main replacement using pre-chlorinated pipe bursting technology.
The pipe burst performed is part of a large urban water main replacement project consisting of over a mile of 6-inch cast iron water main with new 6-inch HDPE, many services, valves, and hydrants. The event showcased the pipe bursting process replacing water main in urban areas of the city.
In total, over 50 attendees watched as the old cast iron was burst and 550 feet of new HDPE pipe was pulled in. The attendees included eight different cities, and five different consulting engineering firms.
Open days such as these have helped MPC build a strong brand in the water industry. While the main focus is for the attendees to watch the technology in person, there are a multitude of additional reasons why the open days are so powerful. Attendees can envision using the technology in their city while driving around areas that look pristine, even though the water main was just replaced the week before. It allows them to talk directly with the residents and clients, both of which are invaluable references. And possibly most important, it allows the Murphy team to start to build a relationship with the potential cities. These aspects in turn support brand credibility and client avidity.
Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world.
