Bill Schultz, Dave Ogden, Mike Tancill, and Debbie Shelton are all celebrating anniversaries this month. Wild Bill Schultz is celebrating 21 years with Teal Construction and still going strong. Bill has built a plethora of projects for Teal Construction and is currently working at Tenaris McCarthy Rd. Dave Ogden is celebrating 10 years with Teal Construction. He is our chief estimator in Houston and has been key with bringing work in for the past 10 years. Dave is known for keeping a clear head even in the most chaotic of bids. Mike Tancill has been building public projects at Teal for the past 8 years. Mike completed the majority of our City of Houston projects and all of our Harris Health Projects to date. Mike is currently working on Harris Health PACU North, Little York Training Field, and HCC Felix Fraga Campus. Debbie Shelton currently works as a Senior Project Coordinator and has been with Teal for the past 2 years. She juggles multiple projects and is a great asset to the team!

HEAVY EQUIPMENT OPERATION ALL VEHICLES MUST HAVE • A service brake system, an emergency brake system, and a parking brake system • Working headlights, tail lights, and brake lights • An audible warning device (horn) • Intact windshield with working windshield wipers • Ensure that all operators have been trained on the equipment they will use • Check vehicles at the beginning of each shift to ensure that the parts, equipment, and accessories are in safe operating condition. Repair or replace any defective parts or equipment prior to use • Do not operate vehicle in reverse with an obstructed rear view unless it has a reverse signal alarm capable of being heard above ambient noise levels or a signal observer indicates that it is safe to move • Vehicles loaded from the top (e.g., dump trucks) must have cab shields or canopies to protect the operator while loading • Ensure that vehicles used to transport workers have seats, with operable seat belts, firmly secured and adequate for the number of workers to be carried • Equipment should have roll-over protection and protection from falling debris hazards as needed • Prior to permitting construction equipment or vehicles onto an access roadway or grade, verify that the roadway or grade is constructed and maintained to safely accommodate the equipment and vehicles involved • Do not modify the equipment’s capacity or safety features without the manufacturer’s written approval • Where possible, do not allow debris collection work or other operations involving equipment under overhead lines heavy eq

TREE PLANTING COMPETITION SPONSORED BY: HOUSTON ARE URBAN FORESTRY COUNCIL, HARRIS COUNTY FLOOD CONTROL DISTRICT, TEXAS A&M FOREST SERVICE AND CENTERPOINT ENERGY Teal Construction partnering with Choate USA competed in the 2016 Tree Planting Competition. Over 15 teams competed in the event which consisted of planting 100 trees with scoring based on time, correct hole depth/width, mulching, and planting techniques. The event was held at the Harris County Flood Control District Retention Basin at West Little York and Hollister. Though a tiring event, we had a lot of fun with the amazing group from Choate USA and other friends that came out to participate. Thank you to Kelly Richardson for putting this meaningful event together! Also thanks to Kelly, Chantela Rowland, and Jennifer King for sweating it out while planting trees for Arbor Day!
