JULY 2022 Edition
Jockey Club Teach Unlimited 'Walk with Youth' Mentorship Programme Online Symposium was successfully held on 27th July, 2022. This year we focus on the "2+3" mentoring approach towards our partner schools. Four school principals were invited to be our guests for panel discussion - "Student Mentoring - "2+3" collaboration and sustainability". They shared their insights about how TUF mentoring boosted the self-esteem of their students. The students become more confident and were able to 'chase their dreams'. Secondly, we invited 2 TUF Partner School teachers and 2 Program Mentors to share their views and fun stories on mentoring. It is delightful to see the mentees getting more confident in learning and explore their future paths.
The symposium was live streamed on YouTube and Facebook at the same time, there were a total of 758 views on YouTube just in 2 days and we thank you for your encouragement notes from in the comments. We look forward to have more dynamic interaction with our audience about youth mentoring and come and find out more at our social media!
Year 3 Program Mentor
LCCS Multicultural Carnival By
The Multicultural Carnival was successfully held from 9th to 10th June, 2022. More than 200 students from Yan Chai Hospital Law Chan Chor Si College participated in this event. With the theme of traveling abroad and cultural exchange, we collaborated with the English Society to design game booths to represent 5 different countries – Japan, Korea, Australia, England and France. Apart from hands-on gamified activities, 12 students volunteered to perform on stage. The singing and dancing performances received a lot of applauses which also served as a recognition and rewarding experience for student Furthermore,performers!studentsfrom different forms were able to interact with 10 native English speakers who are volun teers from UBS and Man Group. Both volunteers and students found the multicultural carnival meaningful and full of fun! We are truly grateful to see so many smiley faces and hear students communicating in English on such an occasion with the presence of volunteers from different backgrounds! Cross-generational Mentorship Program
The Cross-Generational Mentorship Program (CGM) resumed face-to-face sessions in June 2022 after the schools reopened. As we observed the need of prepar ing our secondary and university students for college and job interviews, an interview skills workshop was organized on 2nd June, 2022. The session began by teaching students how to identify their interests, strengths and weaknesses. Mentors from UBS then shared their job hunting experiences and career stories and also coached the students with mock interviews. This helped the students to build practical interview skills and improve their self-confidence. At the closing ceremony on 28th July 2022, we invited Mr. Brendan Tu, Head of ESG Advisory (APAC) of UBS, to introduce ESG practices and Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Participants had fruitful discussions about their visions of an ideal world and how to apply the concept of SDGs to reimagine a sustainable future. This marked a successful closure of the CGM program this year. We are happy to engage a new partner, yolospace.io in the past few months to co-organize and kickstart a NFT Visual Arts Competition for our Partner Schools in mid June. With Yolo's involvement, the highlight of this competition would be allow ing students to submit their work onto Yolo's NFT marketplace and have a taste of NFT minting in the real market. Towards the end of the school year, this is also a good chance for TUF target students to showcase their talents and achieve some thing bigger. Students will submit artwork according to the theme "Growth", which also describes one's personal develop ment and developmental relationships with others (i.e. mentorship). The competition ended in late July with a virtual exhibi tion and prize presentation to celebrate.

The Ceremony started with a warm welcoming of the annual highlight overview, including the experiential learning Kick-Off Session and Dream Pursuing Festival. We also invited 3 students who learned about sewing, photography and foreign language-Thai to share their dream-achieving journey and learning from the program as well as express their gratitude to their mentors. At the same time, 3 of our mentors shared how they believe mentoring can be a wonderful pathway into new experiences and mutual learning across generations. This Program has brought meaningful and enlightening exchange to both our mentees and mentors, as well as valuable learning experience for our students!

As the community is opening back up more and more each day since COVID came around. It is important to get back to our activities. The Dream Pursuing Festival was a success. 190 students have registered for the Dream Dining and Virtual Human Library. Workplace Exposure has been held at the end of April for the students to experience the daily working routines of different professionals. A big thank you to everyone who took part, we couldn’t have done it without you. There are many youth mentoring programs in the community, but the participating mentors can seldom find relevant mentorship courses specific to youth education and school environment as mostly are business or career-focused. We have developed the Mentoring Training Platform (MTP) for the wider public and it serves as a platform to promote mentorship to those who are interested in mentoring, furthering our purpose to support youth development and encourage the mentorship culture in our community. This new free platform for mentoring training is a purposeful online learning platform to offer short courses for the general public including secondary school teachers, youth service volunteers, parents etc. to learn and apply mentoring skills to teenages for more personalized support.
