The Story of Donut

At the very beginning of this academic year, Donut was a shy and reserved girl who did not know how to get along with her classmates. She used to have close friends in the class, but then fell out with them due to some conicts.

Aer the phone call, she changed her mind, hoping to return to school and face her classmates.

3. Reporting to teachers once being harassed

One night, she asked if she could be absent for the following day, then I immediately called her. I listened to her, tried to comfort her, and suggested several ways to get along with classmates, such as:

2. Keeping distance from those who have conicts with her

4. Opening up more with teachers and social workers

1. Trying to make new friends with other classmates

5. Expressing the concern about the seating plan

Academically, she set her learning goals and did her best.

Socially, she is more willing to open up herself. Sometimes she would nd me or the social worker for a chat during recess, and also gradually made new friends in the class.

There are quite a lot of changes in Donut - she became less introverted and more condent!

Her improvements on social skills and learning attitude can be seen clearly in the “Life-wide Learning Week”. In this one-week activity, students are required to design a board game and set some rules. She did research and shared her opinions. Also, she was able to cooperate with her classmates and present the board game in front of the whole class. I was so proud of her!

Notyettheend!

One day when I was tutoring Donut, Donut told me that her Chinese teacher in primary school had no expectation of her writing and set no goal for her owing to her ability, but she was thankful that the teachers in secondary school spent much more time on her and taught her how to write better. Donut gave me a lot of presents like homemade food and her pastel painting. In the Christmas worship last year, she gave me a thank you card expressing her gratitude to me for teaching her. Gratitude

Donut is the third student in the video. She set a goal to nish all the homework during the holiday.
