Young Drive, Killeen. MARCH 15 Michael Martin Murphey The Cultural Activities Center Texas Music Series presents singersongwriter Michael Martin Murphey. In the 1960s, his first hit song “What Am I Doin’ Hangin’ Round” was recorded by the Monkees and topped the pop charts. The singer-songwriter had hits in the 1970s with “Wildfire” and “Carolina in the Pines.” He then crossed over to the country charts and had more than a dozen Top 40 singles and albums there in the 1980s.
