Since its establishment in 1926, Temple College has stood as a cornerstone of educational excellence in our community. Committed to fostering academic achievement, community enrichment, and workforce development, Temple College plays a pivotal role in shaping the future of our city and beyond.

In alignment with its dedication to educational excellence, Temple College is undergoing transformative projects resulting from the 2021 Bond Election. These projects, collectively endorsed by voters, signify a monumental leap forward for the institution. The projects include:

1. Temple College Main Building:

• A cutting-edge, four-story structure poised to be the new "front door" to the College.

• Housing a welcome center, all student services, advanced technology-enabled classrooms, and a spacious events facility.

2. Arts and Workforce Building:

• A visionary hub for visual arts and workforce development showcasing student and faculty works of art.

• Offering ample studio space for photography, ceramics, painting, and sculpture.

• Equipped with labs for advanced manufacturing, computer labs, and skills labs for various disciplines.

3. Health Sciences Center:

• A multi-story health sciences center designed to expand health care programs, including nursing and sonography.

• Forging partnerships with Baylor College of Medicine and Baylor Scott & White Medical Center.

4. Campus Service Center:

• Strategically located on the east side of campus, serving as the physical plant and purchasing department.

• Providing essential space for Temple College vehicles, including buses and the innovative Temple College mobile learning center.

It started with two brothers, Alberto and Mario Sorto, who came to the United States in search for the American Dream. They started with humble beginnings in the restaurant industry as bussers at their Uncle's restaurant. Leadership Temple Economic Development Day: Nurturing Growth & Resilience

The 2024 Leadership Temple class recently spent time learning about the exciting economic development opportunities in Temple. The goal of The day started with a session led by Adrian Cannady, President & CEO of Temple EDC, key insights were shared regarding the organization's pivotal role in shaping Temple's economic landscape.

Collaboration is at the core of Temple EDC's strategy, with established contracts and relationships with entities like Temple Health and Bio Science District, the City of Temple, and the Temple Reinvestment Zone. Cannady emphasized the importance of funding infrastructure improvements to support community growth, highlighting the choice between increasing individual taxes or broadening the tax base.

A cornerstone of Temple EDC's mission is job creation, particularly primary jobs that inject fresh revenue into the local economy. These jobs, provided by companies exporting products or services beyond the community, stimulate growth and support the development of secondary jobs. The recent Meta project exemplifies this, significantly reducing the tax burden and fostering economic stability.

Targeting diverse industries, Temple EDC seeks to shield the community from economic downturns. With a current population of nearing 100,000 and an estimated growth of 7.7% from now until 2028, Temple is primed for strategic development. Shovel-ready sites are held to attract new investments, exemplified by recent projects like Revol Greens and MTC Global, which offer job opportunities above the county average.

The day's facility visits provided concrete examples of Temple EDC's efforts. Revol Greens, with its hydroponic farming techniques and expansion plans, showcases the potential for job creation and innovation. Meanwhile, MTC Global's focus on manufacturing food processing equipment underscores Temple's appeal to diverse industries.

Concluding with a tour of Walmart Distribution Center #6083, the session highlighted the significance of companies like Walmart, which not only provide employment but also operate as employee-owned entities. Through these endeavors, Temple EDC continues to pave the way for sustained economic growth and resilience in the community.

Trevor Coots named Ambassador Chairman of Temple Chamber of Commerce

The Temple Chamber of Commerce is proud to announce Trevor Coots as its next Ambassador Chairman, effective March 2024. Trevor's dedication and commitment to the Chamber have made him a beloved figure in the local community, and we are thrilled to see him step into this leadership role.

For over two years, Trevor has served as an Ambassador for the Temple Chamber of Commerce, dedicating countless hours to volunteering at events and providing unwavering support to our initiatives. His reliability, consistency, and charming personality have made him a cherished member of our team. You can always count on seeing Trevor's smiling face front and center, whether he's holding the ceremonial blue ribbon or steering clear of the sharp scissors!

Beyond his contributions to the Chamber, Trevor is deeply involved in various aspects of his personal and professional life. He has been happily married to his wife, Paige, for 3.5 years. In his leisure time, Trevor enjoys a myriad of activities, including hunting, fishing, golfing, traveling with his wife, working on his family's farm, and cheering at Texas A&M sporting events, particularly football games.

Originally hailing from Zabcikville, Texas, Trevor is a proud graduate of Texas A&M University in College Station. After completing his education, he returned to Temple in search of career opportunities and found his calling at Express Employment Professionals, a locally owned and operated workforce management company with over 36 years of history in Central Texas.

Joining Express Employment Professionals in October 2018, Trevor quickly rose through the ranks, fueled by his passion for connecting with local leaders and making a positive impact on the community. His exceptional performance led to numerous accolades for his team, including recognition as a Top 50 team for four consecutive years and achieving Gold level status within the organization.

In the summer of 2021, Trevor transitioned into a management role, further solidifying his commitment to empowering businesses and families in the Central Texas market. As a Franchise Business Development Manager, Trevor's primary goal is to serve as a trusted HR resource for local businesses, helping them find the most qualified candidates across various sectors.

Trevor's involvement with the Temple Chamber of Commerce has allowed him to forge meaningful connections, strengthen community ties, and cultivate lasting relationships. His dedication to the Greater Temple community is truly commendable, and we are grateful to have him as an integral part of our team.
