Argyle Teen Poised and Ready By Mark Smith, Digital Editor
One year ago, Bailee Utter of Argyle hadn’t participated in a beauty pageant, much less been interested in them. Bailee knew she wanted to try out for captain of the dance team at Liberty Christian School in Argyle. She also knew that she would need to demonstrate excellent interviewing skills along with top-notch dance talent. “She had been asked during her freshman year if she’d be interested in pageants,� said her mother, Monica Utter. “At that time, she was not. But, then she remembered the pageant interview process and thought it may help her prepare for the interview process for dance team captain.� Bailee began working with a pageant coach and entered the Miss Southlake pageant last year. In her first pageant ever,
she was the first runner-up. She then participated in the Miss Hunt County’s Outstanding Teen pageant; and she won. “Now she’s going to state,� Monica Utter said. To compete in local outstanding teen pageants, the girls aren’t limited to just the place where they live, which is how Bailee became Hunt County’s Outstanding Teen. Monica said that, since then, Bailee has served in the Hunt County community, including conducting a book drive. Bailee, a dancer since she was threeyears-old, recently completed her tryout for– and was chosen– as captain of the dance team. She thinks the pageant work See UTTER on Page A7

Crystal and Jim Terry are putting down roots in southern Denton County.
“I never expected to come back to Texas when we moved from Rowlett about 20 years ago,� said Jim Terry, who grew up in Orange, California. Never say never. He and his wife, Crystal, have spent their adult lives as Assembly of God Youth Ministers. They were thrilled 13 years ago to be assigned to a nearly 100-year-old congregation; the Seattlearea island-ferry-town of Anacortes, Washington. A little over a year ago, Jim’s brother passed away locally leaving four minor children. The extended Terry family circled their wagons to meet the need. One brother moved from Houston, the senior
Terrys came to Highland Village; while Jim and Crystal and their four children, one daughter-in-law and two dogs-named Louie and Nina-- migrated to Justin from Anacortes.
