CTE SIGNING DAY
Texas City ISD hosted its highly anticipated Signing Day on May 21, 2024, marking a 42% increase in student participation from the previous year. A total of 43 students signed with 14 industry partners, including 5 new companies to the event. Our Signing Day showcased the diverse career paths available through our Career and Technical Education (CTE) programs, with participants from carpentry, welding, pipefitting, electrical and instrumentation, maritime, teaching and training, health science, and animal science.

Back-to-School CTE Professional Development Kicks Off the Year


For the first time, health science students were included, underscoring our commitment to expanding career opportunities for our students. We are grateful for the support from our industry partners, HCA Healthcare and Memorial Hermann, who are critical to ensuring our students' success in the workforce.
We look forward to continued growth and even more opportunities for our students!
CTE TEACHER PROFESSIOANL DEVELOPMENT
Texas City ISD kicked off the school year with a dynamic professional development session for CTE teachers. A key feature of the session was an externship at the Port of Galveston, where educators explored the maritime industry and gained insights into how all CTE pathways such as welding, health science, and business are connected to local industries.
In addition to the externship, teachers participated in workshops on curriculum updates, industry certifications, and strategies to better prepare students for the workforce. This hands-on learning will directly enhance instruction and strengthen industry partnerships, setting the stage for an exciting school year ahead!

AMBASSADOR LEADERSHIP EXPO
Texas City ISD recently held its Student Ambassador Leadership Expo, an inspiring event designed to equip students with the leadership skills needed to excel both in school and in their future careers. The expo brought together student leaders from across various CTE pathways, offering them hands-on workshops focused on communication, teamwork, problemsolving, and professional development.

Students had the unique opportunity to engage with industry professionals, explore real-world leadership scenarios, and collaborate with peers to develop new ideas for school and community projects. The event fostered a sense of empowerment and leadership, preparing students to take on active roles in their schools and future workplaces.

ITC ADVISORY COUNCIL
Texas City ISD’s Industrial Trades Center Advisory Council is off to a strong start this school year, with over 90 active members from various industries. The council has already met this year to collaborate on strategies that strengthen the connection between education and industry, including tours, presentations, job shadowing and more . By working together, the council is helping to build robust career pipelines for our students.



CTE ADVISORY COUNCIL
The Texas City ISD CTE Advisory Council recently convened, bringing together 75 active members representing CTE programs from Texas City High School and La Marque High School. This collaborative group of educators, industry professionals, and community leaders met to discuss and set annual priorities aimed at creating incredible opportunities for students in their respective career fields.
INDUSTRIAL TRADES CENTER CAREER FAIR
TEXAS CITY ISD RECENTLY HELD ITS ANNUAL INDUSTRIAL TRADES CENTER (ITC) CAREER FAIR, PROVIDING OUR ITC STUDENTS WITH AN INVALUABLE OPPORTUNITY TO CONNECT DIRECTLY WITH INDUSTRY PROFESSIONALS. THE EVENT FEATURED REPRESENTATIVES FROM A VARIETY OF FIELDS, INCLUDING WELDING, ELECTRICAL, INSTRUMENTATION, PIPEFITTING, MARITIME, AND CARPENTRY. STUDENTS ENGAGED IN ONE-ON-ONE CONVERSATIONS WITH POTENTIAL EMPLOYERS, LEARNED ABOUT CAREER PATHWAYS, AND EXPLORED INTERNSHIP AND APPRENTICESHIP OPPORTUNITIES. THE CAREER FAIR ALSO ALLOWED STUDENTS TO GAIN INSIGHT INTO THE SKILLS AND CERTIFICATIONS NEEDED FOR HIGH-DEMAND JOBS, PREPARING THEM FOR FUTURE SUCCESS IN THE WORKFORCE WE ARE THANKFUL FOR THE PARTICIPATION OF OUR INDUSTRY PARTNERS AND THEIR COMMITMENT TO FOSTERING THE NEXT GENERATION OF SKILLED WORKERS.

PARTNERS IN EDUCATION: BRINGING CAREERS TO THE CLASSROOM
At Texas City ISD, we are proud to collaborate with outstanding industry partners who are dedicated to providing our students with immersive, real-world experiences that prepare them for future careers. These partnerships not only enhance our curriculum but also give students the unique opportunity to learn directly from professionals in the field.
Texas City Police Department & Galveston County Sheriff’s Office: Through our Practicum in Law Enforcement, students engage in hands-on activities guided by local law enforcement officers. These professionals bring their expertise into the classroom, teaching students the intricacies of law enforcement and allowing them to experience the challenges and responsibilities of the job firsthand.
Texas City Fire Department: Our Fire Academy students benefit from the direct involvement of the Texas City Fire Department. Firefighters and emergency responders work alongside students to provide training in essential fire safety, rescue techniques, and emergency medical response, helping students build the skills necessary for careers in fire services.
U.S. Coast Guard: Maritime students receive unparalleled training through our partnership with the U.S. Coast Guard. Officers offer students insight into maritime safety, navigation, and rescue operations. This collaboration gives students an authentic understanding of the maritime industry and the essential role the Coast Guard plays in ensuring the safety of our waters.
Region 4 Education Service Center (ESC): Aspiring teachers in our Education and Training program benefit from the expertise of Region 4 ESC. These educators mentor our students, guiding them through the instructional practices, classroom management strategies, and educational trends to earn microcredentials in the teaching profession These partnerships provide invaluable hands-on learning and help our students make direct connections between their classroom experiences and the real-world careers they aspire to pursue. We are deeply grateful to all of our partners for their continued support and dedication to shaping the future workforce of Texas City.

Congratulations to Michael Jimenez for his incredible accomplishments! He completed the BW Offset in an impressive 2 hours and 32 minutes and the Threaded Offset in just 1 hour and 29 minutes, securing his place as a finalist in the National Craft Competition. We are thrilled to announce that Michael will be proudly sponsored by Performance Contractors, Inc. as he heads to compete in Las Vegas. Amazing work, Michael we can’t wait to see you represent Texas City ISD on the national stage!
