Welcome, Bluejays!

For those of you who don’t know me: my name is Zach, and I love being involved at Tabor. College is the perfect time to try new things, and Tabor students thrive by participating in different activities on campus.

Our school boasts nearly thirty clubs and organizations including Student Senate, Game Club, Disc Golf Club, and the Multicultural Student Union. Other extracurriculars like choir and theater are also open to all students, with auditions held throughout each semester.

I encourage everyone–new and returning–to find clubs, organizations, or extracurriculars to try this year. How about competing in intramural sports or joining choir? Or maybe stepping into a leadership position on one of the campus councils?

Most of all, take advantage of opportunities to grow in your understanding of God. Attend SP&D or a Bible study, sign up for a mentor, and lean in when you’re at chapel.

I am proud to be a Tabor student involved in many areas of campus life. New Jays–I am excited to meet you all as you come to campus this fall. Returning students–I’m happy to see your familiar faces. Tabor College is a family, and I’m thankful to be part of it.

SPIRITUAL LIFE

Spiritual Formation and Community

Life is more than a program. It is a way of living! Our Spiritual Formation programs are designed to cultivate an environment for spiritual growth on our campus. The primary way we promote this is through regularly scheduled chapels each week. Spiritual Formation also oversees small groups and coordinates with departments for missions opportunities.

SMALL GROUPS

Bible studies, discipleship groups and student led ministries are also available at various times throughout the week and at various locations on campus. Small group ministries are a place where students can connect and grow as they learn how to follow God together.

GLOBAL OUTREACH

Students will have the opportunity to travel to a foreign country to experience a different culture, to research or to work alongside missionaries and church planters to minister in those communities. We are tentatively planning a trips to Portugal, Jerusalem, Germany, Indonesia & Peru.

CHAPEL

Tabor College holds chapel weekly on Mondays and Wednesdays where staff, faculty and students come together to worship, hear God’s Word and connect to one another.

CHAPEL

Life is full of highs and lows. We experience significant accomplishments and setbacks. On one side, we may experience great joy and pride in things like league or state championships, graduation, or other important academic achievements. On the other side, we may experience extreme tragedy such as the effects of divorce, loss of jobs, homelessness, food insecurity, racial inequality, and the death of loved ones.

No matter what we’ve experienced and gone through, we are called to know Christ more and more. Paul himself says that he is continually striving for this. He forgets the past, both the good and the bad, in order to focus on obtaining this prize of knowing Christ more. All his accomplishments are now considered trash, all his suffering and hardships are behind him as he presses on to reach his goal!

PRESS ON

We too are called to persevere through all the hardships in our lives. We are to not let our past accomplishments distract us from reaching our goal either. Like a runner, not wanting to waste energy looking back at the ground they’ve covered, we are to fix our eyes on the prize ahead. We are called to strain and expend all our efforts and energies toward that which Jesus has called us to.

Philippians 3:13-14

Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus.

Philippians 3:13-14
