Participants are encouraged to bring a sweater or jacket, and a one hour lunch break will be provided.

This course is approved by the N.Y.S. Department of Motor Vehicles for points and insurance reduction.

January 13 – 25th Annual Winter Fly Tying Workshop (9) Saturdays, January 13 -March 10, 6:00-8:00pm @ Cornell Cooperative Extension of Tompkins County, 615 Willow Avenue, Ithaca NY SPACE IS LIMITED SO REGISTER NOW! The Leon Chandler Chapter of Trout Unlimited and Tompkins County Cooperative Extension 4-H Program are proud to offer you (youth and adults) the finest in fly-fishing education, featuring some of the most talented angler/tiers in the state! This Introduction to Fly Tying features nine twohour sessions with several

different instructors who will teach you the basics of tying the dry fly, wet fly, nymph and streamer patterns that are the most effective in our area.

Tuition includes nine weeks of instruction, all tools, hooks and tying materials. All students receive: complete tying kits (including vises, scissors and related tools); all tying materials necessary to complete the course and practice tying outside of the class (feathers, dubbing, hooks and related materials); as well as a comprehensive introductory text on Fly Tying.

Tuition fees are $140 for adults (19 and up), $110 for children (between the ages of 13 and 18) and $215 for a child and adult combination.

Yoga Farm is unique, in that it is much more than a yoga studio. The center has developed its own curriculum of four life education courses, two of which start this January.

I write about fish a lot but sometimes I like to talk about other popular pets in the pet industry. The bearded dragon is a very popular reptile. Their characteristics include spiny scales arranged in rows and clusters. These are found on the throat, which can be expanded when threatened, and at the back of the head. These spiny scales are used to scare off predators, yet they are not very sharp. Beardeds also feature a hand-waving gesture; this is to show submission between dragons. They also have a head-bobbing act to show dominance.

They have the ability to change color during rivalry challenges between males, and in response to temperature change, such as turning black to absorb heat. know

Bearded dragons are popular among children, because of their friendly and calm nature, along with relative ease of caring for them. Adults reach from 16 to 24 inches from head to tail. A typical bearded dragon diet consist of leafy greens, vegetables and non citrus fruits, supplemented regularly with insects.

Crickets are the most popular feeder choice, but beardeds can also be fed other insects such as super worms, wax worms, silk worms, mealworms and butter worms. Juvenile dragons require a significantly greater insect to plant matter ratio in their diets than adults.

A lot of people can't decide between a bearded dragon or an Iguana as a pet. Keep in mind that bearded dragons do not get as big as iguanas do. However if you do not want to feed live insects then you should choose an iguana as they are strictly vegetarians.

Bearded dragons are most commonly found in arid and semiarid woodlands and rocky deserts in Central Australia. They are adept climbers, spending time on branches and in bushes and near human habitation. Beardeds bask on rocks and exposed branches in the mornings and afternoons. Prices of young bearded dragons can range from $49.99 to as much as $99.99 depending on size, age, and color. They do make excellent pets and are very easy to care for.

Presenting as pimples, blackheads, whiteheads, inflamed bumps and cysts, they can appear almost anywhere from the face and chest down to the buttocks. While treating acne decreases the risk of scarring and dark spots, many fight the urge to squeeze or pop them.

So, why do these pesky lesions occur? Acne develops from clogged pores caused when the body produces a lot of sebum (natural oil), causing dead skin cells to stick together and preventing them from shedding. The easiest way to decrease pores from clogging is to use products labeled as “non-comedogenic” or non pore-clogging. Choosing a cleanser with salicylic acid (helps reduce sebum and redness) and benzoyl peroxide (decreases bacteria on the skin) will also help with acne prone skin and breakouts.

“Acne can have social and psychological impact on an individual, so it is really important for me and all of my providers to take the time to develop a customized treatment plan for each patient,” says Dr. Josephine McAllister of Dermatology Associates of Ithaca.
