When Raymond Castronovo, of Riverhead-based Zenith Group, asked Town of Smithtown Supervisor Ed Wehrheim (R) how he could help during the COVID-19 pandemic, Wehrheim told him his biggest concern was helping the residents who rely on the senior center and meal delivery program. Castronovo responded by writing out a check for $3,000. “I wanted to do something to help those
less fortunate, and I knew that the path would be safe here in Smithtown … it comforts my heart, knowing that my donation will go to help these seniors,” Castronovo said. The supervisor said his biggest concern were those who were homebound and had no assistance to purchase essential supplies. Currently the town is delivering five meals per person for the week. “Having additional funding in the budget
would allow for our Senior Center to add essentials for the week to those meals,” Wehrheim said. “The thought of anyone in our community rationing food is heartbreaking … let alone the greatest generation of our residents. Thanks to Raymond’s generosity we can help more, care more … do more.” The donation provided 900 meals for seniors. Photo from Town of Smithtown
