Seasons of Love

Five hundred, twenty five thousand, six hundred minutes

Five hundred, twenty five thousand moments so dear

Five hundred, twenty five thousand, six hundred minutes

How do you measure, measure a year?

In daylights, in sunsets

In midnights, in cups of coffee

In inches, in miles, in laughter, in strife

In five hundred, twenty five thousand, six hundred minutes

How do you measure a year in the life?

How about love? (3x)

Measure in love

Seasons of love (love) (2x)

Five hundred, twenty five thousand, six hundred minutes

Five hundred, twenty five thousand journeys to plan

Five hundred, twenty five thousand, six hundred minutes

How do you measure the life of a woman or a man?

In truths that she learned

Or in times that he cried

In bridges he burned

Or the way that she died

It's time now to sing out

Though the story never ends

Let's celebrate

Remember a year in the life of friends

Remember the love

(Oh, you got to, you got to remember the love)

Remember the love

(You know that love is a gift from up above)

Remember the love

(Share love, give love, spread love)

Measure in love

(Measure, measure your life in love)

Seasons of love (love) (2x)

Torah Portion Announcements

Saturday, October 11

This week, as we read Parshat V’Zot HaBracha, we reach the end of the Torah. Moses stands on the edge of the Promised Land, knowing he will not cross over. He blesses the people, one last time, with a full heart despite everything. It is a moment of goodbye, of memory, of letting go.

And yet, during these days of Sukkot (and even for tonight’s early Oneg), we walk into our Sukkah and celebrate a holiday the Torah calls z ’ man simchateinu, the time of our joy We are commanded: “V’samachta b’chagecha… v hayita ach sameach” You shall rejoice, and be only joyful.

How can we hold both? An ending of Moses’ life… and the great joy of this holiday?

The answer, I think, is in the sukkah itself. It is fragile. Temporary. Open to the sky. And yet we decorate it. We sing in it. We invite others in. We celebrate not because everything is certain or permanent, but because life is a gift

Moses didn’t enter the land at the end of this parsha but he saw it And then he blessed us. That, too, can be understood is joy.

So this year, as we sit in our sukkah, may we carry the wisdom of Moses, the courage to find blessing in the unknown, and the strength to choose joy together.

Parashat V’Zot HaBracha: Holidays Exodus 33:12-34:26

Saturday, October 11, 2025 / 19 Tishri 5786

On the Shabbat during Sukkot, we are reminded of the ageold desire to know God. Moses implores God to let him see God. While God will not allow Moses to see God’s face, God tells Moses, “I will make My goodness pass before you… ” Perhaps we experience the divine presence through the goodness we create in the world. The Torah then sets forth the thirteen attributes of God, among them that God is compassionate, gracious, slow to anger and abounding in kindness. By emulating these very attributes, we create the goodness which allows us to know God.

Oh, mi cha-mo-cha ba-e-lim A-do-nai,

Oh, mi ka-mo-cha ne-dar ba-ko-desh, No-ra t'hi-lot, O-seh fe-leh,

Oh, no-ra t'hi-lot, o-seh fe-leh,

Won't you help to sing these songs of freedom?

Cause all I ever had, redemption songs, These songs of freedom, redemption songs

Shabbat Shalom and Chag Sameach
