Welcome 2

You are probably reading this because you’ve chosen to become a member of the Tayside Contracts Joint Committee, and if so, thank you for choosing us.

May I welcome you to Tayside Contracts, and say how much I am looking forward to working with you.

We are the longest serving and largest shared service in Scotland, with approximately 2,500 employees covering over 3,000 posts, and our people deliver a wide range of essential public services to the communities of Angus, Dundee City and Perth & Kinross - which you will find more about as you read on.

In this guide, you will discover more about who we are and what we do. I know from speaking to previous and current Joint Committee members that they really welcome the benefits that Tayside Contracts brings to your Council and your local residents, and they’ve greatly valued being part of the wider `Team Tayside Contracts`. I sincerely hope you will feel the same way.

My team and I are here to help you in any way we can, and give you the professional advice you need to make your decisions as a member of the Joint Committee.

OurActivities

We are the largest civil engineering construction organisation in Tayside and carry out around £51 million of road repairs, maintenance and construction, winter maintenance and street lighting.

We are also Tayside’s largest catering organisation – serving over 5.8 million meals every year to schools and community customers

- that's 30,000 meals each day.

Our School Crossing Patrollers help to keep the children of Tayside safe when travelling to and from the 175 schools in Tayside.

Our Facilities Management team keep over 400 hundred buildings clean and well maintained, and help ensure all the occupants are safe.

OurActivities

We operate a Quarry at Collace in Perth & Kinross, which each year supplies over 100, 000 tonnes of asphalt and other roadstone materials, for us to maintain and, where necessary, replace Tayside's roads. Our Transport team keeps our fleet of almost 455 vehicles on the road, and serving our communities.

Our Sign Shop, based at Blairgowrie, produces the signage requirements for our three Councils as well as for multiple commercial customers.

All of these activities are supported by our very own highly professional Human Resources, Safety and Training, IT, Finance, Communications, Equalities and Business Support Admin teams.

TheevolutionofTaysideContracts

We are also the oldest shared services in Scotland and have been on the go since 1996 - and we've never been more relevant than we are today. During these times of financial pressures, shared services are a proven way of reducing costs, whilst maintaining high quality public services.
