Schooner Bay is in Abaco, Bahamas with an average population of 15,000. The community was designed in 2006 by Andres Duany and Elizabeth Plater-Zyberk, the owner of DPZ Co Design for Orjan Lindrot. Schooner Bay follows the Caribbean Vernacular design style. It was created as a residential community that focused on sustainable and ecofriendly practices.
In this project my focus was how the residential community incorporated sustainable design practices throughout. Our class was pushed to create a case study using a black and white color scheme with all hand-graphics including the titles. Using sketches of the architecture and plans of the community the design idea of the community is clearly portrayed.

Spring 2021 community design
Woodland Retreat
This community was designed for a lot located off Milledge Avenue in Athens, GA. It is ideal for middle-class homes and is surrounded by trees making every lot secluded. There is a lake on the property for recreation and peaceful views. This community includes tennis courts, a large community center with a lake view, walking trials, and a community garden. There are 34 residential lots available all between 12,000 and 18,000 square feet.
This community design project expanded my design processes in engineering using AutoCAD plans to demonstrate the site grading and lot acreage. The incorporation of hand graphics was used to illustrate the intended use for the community design. Planting plans, grading plans, and lot plans were created using AutoCAD.

The idea behind this community is creating a safe living environment with proximity to stores and restaurants, but still giving residents the sense of an enclosed lush community. A park is located across the street this gives close recreation access for the younger generation, as well as an easy drive for the elderly. Residents will have access to the two greenspaces located at the ends of the lots, as well as two community garden plots for residential use. This community will occupy small families and elderly considering the compact home sizes and proximity homes with the lot size of 20,000 square feet.
The focus of this community design project was to base the designs around the client’s needs. The lot was located off Lexington Road in Athens, GA for the family that owned the space. Their goal was maximum lots for smaller residential homes. The use of AutoCAD and hand graphics were used to show grading, planting, and lot plans, as well as house and lot illustrations to show the design intent.

Fall 2020 PLANTING DESIGN Garden Planting Plan
This project explored planting design using a planting plan, planting schedule, and construction details for the design. Using an assigned garden photograph, we were to identify the plants used and find substitutes that were viable in zone 8 climate.
The planting schedule was created to determine the correct quantity and sizing of each plant. The planting plan was created using AutoCAD to identify the layout of each plant used. The construction documents specified the methods to be used in installation and the photograph, created using Photoshop, shows the original assigned garden design.

Spring 2022 URBAN DESIGN College Avenue Plaza
The College Avenue Plaza design project is located on College Avenue in Downtown Athens, GA. For this project we were to create a master plan, an East to West section, a North to South section, a grading plan, and a 3D perspective to show our design plans for the space.
Using Photoshop for the master plan, I displayed the ground and planting materials. I created the sections through a combination of AutoCAD and Illustrator, and the grading plan with AutoCAD. The 3D perspectives were created with SketchUp.

Spring 2022 downtown design
Comer, GA
This project was a revitalization of downtown Comer, Ga. The city of Comer is very quiant and histiric, but needed a hub for visitors and residents to gather. The goal was to create a design that incorporated residential, commercial, and studio space for the existing and new coming local artists, as well as a revamp of the existing park for farmers markets and other outdoor entertainment.
The masterplan was created using AutoCAD for the basemap, Photoshop for rendering, and Illustrator for text. The sections were created using Photoshop. The plant schedule and attribute charts were made with Excel, and the planting plan was hand rendered.
