Architectural Expressions: The Language of Public Space is a visual dictionary defining a taxonomy of elements aimed at public interpretation, involvement, and interaction. This project focuses on the impact and development of the public realm to create and activate public spaces that foster inclusivity and interactivity building a sense of belonging and community. To create a more inclusive public space, we must first understand the relationship between design and the human experience to decipher the language of current public spaces. Architectural Expressions: The Language of Public Space deconstructs, reimagines, and reconstructs the physical elements of architecture creating new public space typologies that encourage nuance in the urban fabric and tackle inclusivity through form, access, and transparency.
