FAMED poet and former Wantage resident Sir John Betjeman could be honoured with a new statue of him in the town. The bust would be sculpted in bronze and modelled on the top part of a statue standing in St Pancras railway station
in London. It could be installed on a stone plinth in front of Vale and Downland Museum in Church Street and would look up at one of his favourite spots - the bell tower of the church opposite. See page 3 for full story.
