Double murder investigation after bodies discovered in flat Man arrested as police appeal for information and witnesses
By George Welch A MURDER investigation has been launched after the bodies of two men were discovered at a flat in Banbury. Officers attended an address on Newland Road at around 6.45pm on Sunday, where a man in his thirties and a man in his twenties were found dead inside the property. A 52-year-old man from Banbury has been arrested on suspicion of murder and is currently in custody. The men’s next of kin have been informed and are being supported by specialist officers. The victims have been named locally on social media as Adrian Fannon and Mark Pawley. Police haven’t confi rmed their identity as formal identifications and post-mortem examinations are yet to take place. However, tributes to Mr Pawley and Mr Fannon have been flooding in on social media. Dave Earle posted on Facebook: “My condolences to their families and friends. I have known both for most of their lives and know of their struggles. “Make this a time to help us realise how precious life is and a time to support those closest to us so that they
can avoid the same struggles. RIP.” Maxwell Bentley posted: “R.I.P Mark Pawley & Adrian Fannon. Absolutely shocking to hear. Known them forever. Always pleasant and nice to me. Such a sad loss.” A scene watch remains in place at Newland Road and is likely to remain there over the coming days. Senior Investigating Officer, Detective Chief Inspector Craig Kirby from the Thames Valley Police Major Crime Unit, said on Monday: “We are continuing to investigate this serious incident. Although we are in the early stages of conducting enquiries, this is thought to have been an isolated incident. It is believed the men were known to each other. “I would continue to appeal to anyone in the local area who may have seen or heard anything unusual around this location yesterday to please come forward.” Deputy LPA Commander, Chief Inspector Emma Garside, added: “Officers will be conducting enquiries within the area as part of the investigation, and if anyone has any concerns, please speak to a local neighbourhood officer.” If you have any information, contact police on 101 quoting URN 1159 1/10.
