Bid for wheels to reach rural residents
Food bank plans to hit the road • Jo Cypher, 41
A WEST Oxfordshire food bank is hoping to go mobile in order to help disadvantaged residents in the district by delivering food parcels door to door. Oxfordshire West Foodbank was set up in 2012 and its organisers are now hoping to help people living in rural areas. Jo Cypher, 41, set up the food bank three years ago after she was left alone with two children and one on the way, struggling to pay bills. She said: “It started about fi fteen years ago when my ex-husband left me with two young children. “I was left surviving on child benefit for 18 weeks. I’d never claimed any benefits before so I

By Alex Ballinger didn’t know what to do. “I’ve now been in a stable relationship for eight years and I wanted to do something for myself other than being a full time mum.” Mrs Cypher, now a mum-of-four, said she contacted a food bank in Oxford about volunteering but instead decided to set one up for West Oxfordshire residents. She is aiming to raise £1,500 to convert a van for her to transport food parcels to vulnerable people, Mrs Cypher hopes to have the scheme up and running by summer 2016. • Continues on page 3
