Council leader Roy Perry said: “We’re having to take ÂŁ98m out of our budget and that can’t be done without making some dif-
ficult decisions. “With significant drops in government grants, we are having to make reductions that perhaps none of us would choose to do if there were adequate resources. “While it’s too early to say with any certainty what the fi nal figure may be, it’s estimated that, subject to further consultation exercises where necessary, a total of 454 fulltime equivalent posts could be potentially impacted by 2018/19.â€? The ruling, which will be readdressed following chancellor George Osborne’s Autumn statement, was also discussed at a meeting of the borough council the same day – with councillors narrowly voting against opposing the decision.
