New plan ‘could boost town by £1.56 million’
TOWN leaders are due to decide whether to spend £10,000 on the first stages of a new vision for the Abingdon’s future which could boost town coffers by £1.56 million. Abingdon Town Council is voting on whether to start designing a neighbourhood plan at a meeting next Wednesday. are redrawn to include the 1,000 homes in the north, the CIL would amount to £1.56million to invest in Abingdon. He is spearheading the idea and has been supported by Vale of White Horse District Council leader Matthew Barber. Cllr Lovatt said: “I’m in favour of a neighbourhood plan. It’s a plan of how you want the town to develop. “I’m having a bit of a struggle with my own party.”
He added there are concerns from the Conservative group on the council about the cost of the plan, but that he was willing to explore the options before going ahead.
