Tributes to ‘life and soul’ biker Ashley and ‘inspirational’ Elisha
Heartbreak for families as two die on roads in a week By Adam Flinn TRIBUTES have been paid to two young people from Thatcham who died last week following separate crashes in Hampshire. Elisha Clarke, 24, and Ashley Herring, 21, died on May 22 and 24 respectively. Mr Herring, of Maynard Close, was pronounced dead after a crash while riding his Yamaha motorcycle in Foxs Lane, Penwood, just over the border to the south of Newbury, last Wednesday evening. It happened at around 7.30pm. No other vehicles were involved. His family said Ashley “died doing what he loved”. The tribute read: “Ashley was the life and soul of any event. He always had something funny to say – the one to make everyone laugh. “He died doing what he loved, pushing the limits. “Always in our hearts, never forgotten. Love always, mum, dad, Gemma and all that loved him.” Investigations into what happened are ongoing, with police continuing to appeal for witnesses. Miss Clarke, of Derwent Road, died from her injuries last Monday, nine days after a collision on the A303 near Andover. She had been a passenger in a CitAshley Herring ‘died doing what he loved’
