Station multi-storey and ring road in the pipeline A £23 MILLION revamp of Didcot Parkway Station’s car parking is due to start this spring to build a multi-storey car park with an extra 800 spaces. A timeline for work on the station’s long stay Foxhall Road car park to start was set by Great Western Railway after Vale of White Horse District Council’s planning committee unanimously approved plans for a temporary Didcot park and ride to be set up while construction work is ongoing. A GROUP of four Didcot Girl School pupils who led a campaign raising awareness of mental health issues were the big winners at Didcot’s seventh annual business and community awards on Friday night. Betsy Brind, Freya Barnes, Beth Hancock and Amy Lockett were double winners in the ceremony at the Cornerstone Arts Centre claiming the ‘Raising Awareness’ and ‘Inspirational Youth Group’ awards for their Stop the Stigma social media campaign. They were the only group

to pick up two of the 12 prizes at Didcot First’s Business and Community Awards. They contacted celebrities on Twitter encouraging them to share experiences and spread the word in the campaign for the girl’s GCSE in citizenship, which they completed back in July. Their teacher, Stuart George, said: “I was delighted for the girls. “We’ve never had success like this at the awards so it’s a real achievement for the girls’ hard work and for the school.�
