• A map of where the Eynsham Park and Ride and new bus lane could be built TRANSPORT links between Witney and Oxford could get a £38million cash injection, Oxfordshire County Council leaders have pledged. “If we get a shift so people get out of their cars and onto the buses it will reduce the amount of traffic on the A40. “I’m fully supportive of the plans.” Council cabinet members are recommended to pass the A40 improvement scheme by council director for environment and economy, Sue Scane. Her report states: “The [A40] between Witney and Oxford
carries a daily flow of between 23,000 and 33,000 vehicles a day – well above the road’s capacity. “This results in congestion on the route for much of the day, including at weekends.” If approved work on the A40 would begin in 2017 or 2018, to be fi nished by 2019. A £6m Eynsham Park and Ride would be built, a £29m eastbound bus lane between Eynsham roundabout and the Duke’s Cut Wolvercote, and £3m for junction improvements at Eynsham and Cassington. • Continues on page 3
