Witness appeal after woman, 20, raped in alley after leaving club By Samantha McGregor EXTRA police patrols have been launched in Banbury after a young woman was raped after she left a night club. The 20-year-old victim left Moo Moo Clubrooms, in High Street, at 11.15pm on Friday and walked down an alleyway. A man approached her from behind and then raped her before running off. Police have described the man as white with a moustache. Extra police patrols have been mounted in Banbury and a scene watch put in place while further investigations take place. Detective Inspector Matt Bick, based at Banbury police station, said: “This is clearly a very distressing incident, which I understand will cause concern in the community, but I would like to reassure people that we are carrying out a full and thorough investigation. I would ask anyone who has any information which they think could relate to the incident, no matter how insignificant it may seem, to contact us.” DI Bick added that they were unable to release further details at this stage but would provide updates when possible. The woman is currently being supported by specially trained officers. Anyone with information should call 101 quoting reference 43180043341, or contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.

Station gets a spring revamp

Commuters travelling through Bicester North last week would have seen gardeners preparing the ground

BICESTER North Station received a much-needed makeover last week as a community group dug ditches and rooted weeds at the railway side. Despite the icy temperatures, the Friends of Bicester North Station community group grabbed their spades and dug the ground near the London-bound platform, ready for plants to bloom in the spring. The 21 volunteers prepared the 388 sqm space for replanting with a garden to provide year-round colour, a path and possibly even seating for the Chiltern Railways customers. Bea Foster, from Friends of Bicester North Station, said: “It was so much fun to take on a new project and be part of the birth of a new group. “I look forward to more sessions and seeing Bicester North Station look splendid and cared for.” Bicester’s Wyvale Garden Centre and Burleys landscape gardeners supported the group with advice and materials.
