Residents warned about demolition at power plant

RESIDENTS have been told the remainder of Didcot ‘A’ Power Station’s collapsed boilerhouse is set to be demolished within two weeks’ time.

A MAN has died and another is in a serious condition after a car crash near Wallingford on Monday night. A 36-year-old named locally as Kevin Johnson, of Caversham, died when his Volkswagen Golf collided with roadside trees on the A4074 Port Way, near Ipsden, at 10.30pm on Monday. Two ambulances attended the crash, but Mr Johnson, who worked at The Bell, Crowmarsh Gifford, was confi rmed dead at the scene. His passenger, a 25-yearold man, who has not yet been named, is thought to have been travelling back from work with him at the Hungry Horse chain pub. He is being treated at the John Radcliffe Hospital. A second car, a Ford Focus, which was travelling in the same direction, collided with debris from the fatal accident, with the driver being taken to hospital with minor injuries. Mr Johnson worked as a bar manager at the pub along with his passenger, who also worked there as a chef. Flowers have been placed at at

A spokesman for the South Central Ambulance Service, David Gallagher, said: “We received a call at 10.31pm about a collision between two cars and a number of patients seriously injured in the collision. “Two rapid response vehicles with three of our officers

attended, along with two ambulances and the air ambulance. “One patient was confi rmed deceased at the scene. A second patient received a life-threatening head injury and the driver of the second vehicle had minor injuries. “Both of the injured men were taken to John Radcliffe Hospital by land.” Police are appealing for anyone with information about the crash to call them on 101.
