Precedent Sketch for Invisible Cities Project.

About Me: I was born Oklahoma City, Oklahoma in 2002. I have been drawing for as long as I can remember but, I did not start drawing structures or anything architectural until Design one. Up until that point, I was only interested in illustrating faces, scenes from books, plants, and animals. Since coming to college and trying to refine my practice, I have noticed this limitation and pushed past it. Even though I had a late start on the architectural sketches, I was still somewhat active in the architectural programs. To give myself a head starts in the architecture realm, I decided to do vocational school during high school, which led to the knowledge of AutoCAD, Revit, and participating in many architecture competitions. Currently, I am continuing my process of obtaining architectural knowledge through practice.

Haiku Clay Molding.

2020

The objectives of this project was to understand the process of subtraction in design and to practice craftmanship. The deliverable was a molded clay block that represented a self written haiku. My haiku was focused on organic shapes, dark nooks, and openings of light to help guide a “visitor” throughout the design.

With the need for direction, stairs seemed to be the most fitting way to help define passageways.

Border Project.

2021

The border project was the one that made me really start to think and question political topics.

This design holds the purpose of uniting the U.S. and Mexico citizens in a neutral area that would avoid conflict. Here, families could see each other without looking through the metal bars, This way, they could sit on the beach together.

Invisible Cities: Esmeralda.

2020 The Invisible Cities are Italio Calvino’s perceptions of the many cities that he adventured. Esmeralda was one of his perceptions of Venice, Italy. In his writings, Esmeralda is described as a place with numerous routes, paths, and passageways. Reading the description easily made my thought process wander which helped. With this, the design slowly took shape of my own imagination.

Buildings would be entered from the roof, ground floor, and second floor. Sidewalks would rise from the ground and become bridges that would split in different ways, each path leading to either a building or another path. In this invisible city, every citizen could take a different path every day.

Insect Habitat.

2021

The Dobsonfly is scientifically called the Corydalis and lives near streams. These insects can seem very terrifying but, they are indicators of low pollution levels. This is due to their inability to tolerate even moderate pollution levels. They spend most of their life as larvae, swimming in the streams near rocks as they hunt on other larvae. Because of their mostly aquatic life span, I decided to create a waffle model that replicates a flow of water as it weaves through and over rocks. To hold this waffle model up, a stick structure that resembles a cluster of jagged rocks goes underneath.

Norman Urban Farming Center.

2022

Urban farms are known for being beneficial to the community by offering employment, promoting the community's health, and by offering fresh food to the local people. To further benefit the community of Norman, the educative urban farm would also use sustainable features such as rainwater collection, passive solar windows, and shade planters.
